Black smoke is from running rich. Probably from excess fuel from the carb leaking in. Never hurts to install a $7 fuel shut off valve between the gas tank and the fuel filter. Also, if you can describe "engine sounds horrible" a little better. Is it missing, stalling, smoking, revving? Sounds like my wife when I forget her birthday. I climb up the attic open the door at furnace and find out there is a transformer that step down 120 v to 24 v . and two terminals at the second end (24v) red terminal is power 24v and the other terminal is use to connect to frame or chassis and serve as common ground so a c wire is any unused wire you can pick any color you want in the same bundle that goes from the furnace to the thermostat in my case those extra wires are trim flush to the bundle jacket on both end so I need to peel that jacket off about 2 inches on both end and connect a single wire about 2 foot long from the frame to the wire you selected (let say black) on the furnace end then the black wire on the thermostat end will be "C" wire and connect it to the "C" terminal on the new wifi fancy Honeywell or Nest. If I say anything wrong please correct me. I will do this at some other time. for now I just thinking. I signed up for smart (something) at gapower.com and they will sent me a nest gen.3 for free. I think this nest also will need "C" wire. I wait till I get the Nest then I will install both the Nest and the Honeywell at same time I will put the Nest down stair and Honeywell up stair.

I've stayed in the Ritz Carlton, Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn, Sheridan, Holiday Inn Express, right down to Econo Lodge, Motel 6 and even worse. It depends on what's available where I'm going to be. I assure you, everything doesn't get washed every day everywhere you go, despite what they may claim. I've watched the housekeeping staff in just about every place I have gone and some do change the comforters, some places do not. Some have replaced the pillows, some have not. Most will if you ask them to and stand there waiting. I've never had a reason to go to Mass. and don't think I will. But if I do and decide to use Lysol, I guess I'll be do a fine. You know, there is probably a law somewhere that assures just about anything is against the law. That's what liability insurance is for. If someone wants to fine me for protecting my own health, let the lawyers fight it out. I've been approached about using Lysol before and when I insist on written documentation which assures the room is bacteria, germ and pollen free, I never hear from them again, just get looks, big deal. If you've watched various programs like 20/20 and others, you've seen the documentaries on how nasty even the best hotels are.

It's hard to say... because there are a vast array of *cheap garbage* dampers. It depends on what drives the damper... it could be springs, it could be belt driven, it may have been installed backwards and the air of the system is keeping it shut, until something is changed with the system that allows it to open. Your guess is as good as mine... Unfortunately no one wants to spend the money to do zoning properly and this is ultimately what you wind up with. I service the Katy, Texas area.
