Brian got in from the office early (no that is why I am happy)

but as you all know I am really not so smart on the computer....

Well a few weeks ago I did another one of my cleaning out the ole computer again.......(yeah I know)

And I deleted all my everyone of my pics again....totally gone out of recycle everything........

Now remember I did this before and lost almost all of my wedding pics.......

Well this time he took it to the guys who repair the computers at his office...

And they got them all back and my wedding pics...yeah yeah yeah.....Stacy

Oh I know-wow can it eat! This morning when I came downstairs I walked over and looked at him-there is little frass all over and the little leaf was gone! There is something I always wanted to do so I touched him and that litle osmeterium came out-that is so funny looking! I won't do it anymore but, I just had to see it for myself. Lasy year I made little containers-I cut the lids and put netting on them with glue. It is alot easier to bring one of them with you when you go looking for cats and eggs.It's small enough so I could fit it in my purse or backpack too. I have the egg in there all by itself. Aggie

Suebot - don't think i'm going to tell you anything that somebody else hasn't said, but since i've had too much experience with deer & rabbits, i figured i'd concur with the remedies that worked for me. i used to live/learned to garden on nantucket and martha's vineyard, where the deer are at least as unreasonably tame and probably more abundant than they are in ct. i've heard stories of people standing 10 ft away from them yelling at them while they chomp on their hydrangea flower buds. one woman i was talking to claimed she saw the deer attacking her dalmation!! anyway, my first thought about your original message was are you sure all damage is due to deer and not rabbits? - when they stand on their hind legs, they can eat quite high - on a couple of my client's properties on the islands, i had more problems with bunnies than deer, especially with my daylilies & echinacea. so, i also found success with the deer away spray products; i can't remember which one i used, but i believe it had garlic & mint in it and i actually liked the way it smelled. the directions said to spray every couple of weeks (??), but i found that i had to spray every couple of days or so & definitely after a rain. it was pretty time consuming. unfortunately, my other success was fencing in the gardens. i just tried to be decorative about it - i used nice cedar posts with caps, bird netting @ 4' high (you can't really see it, so the garden still looks nice), i hung rope along the top of the netting (for a nautical look...). I did throw netting on top of the gardens in the spring until things grew too tall, but i have to admit, the deer hopped in a couple of times (- that would've been a mess i kind of would have liked to see). i now live in maine and have a large cutting garden in my back yard, a good distance from my house and i use the bird netting as the fencing (simply because it was the only fencing i could find that would be high enough in one piece) and it works (doesn't handle snow load, though). i see deer in the back and they walk right around the garden. chipmunks are now my problem. unfortunately, my true feeling is that if the deer want to get to something, they will. sorry to be so lengthy, good luck. just out of curiosity, do you have phlox and is it being eaten - that always gets destroyed the worst for me. -mara

Phoggie-I grew up in downtown KC, and now we live just East of Ottawa KS or 45 minutes down I35 from KC. We're currently trying to sell our house (we have ten acres here), and for some reason people want to live in the country but don't want the land. My husband grew up on a hog farm in NE Iowa and has finally decided he wants to go back. Now that we have a kid (she'll be 2 on Friday!) it sure sounds like a nice place to grow up. So I have finally agreed to go to the farm. His family has 500 acres, but I don't want to build on their property. I tend to think of worse case scenario, and I'm not sure if we would stay up there if something happened to DH (all of my family lives here in KC). Probably the biggest reason I want to be the GC is I know exactly what I want. I've been researching everything for months now. Once we sell this place we plan on moving to IA and renting a small place in town. Then we'll wait a year or so to make sure my husband will like working from home (his company is very nice for even considering to let him work long distance most of the time). Then we will start to build. We're hoping to buy a couple of acres from someone right around his family's place. The problem is trying to find a nice place to put a house. The soil is so rich land is very expensive (for the Midwest that is). We may end up buying a couple of acres in the corner of his family's farm. My husband doesn't want to drive anymore (unless it's close enough he can just hop on his ATV). I'm really looking forward to this process. All of the men in my family are tradesmen, and both of my grandpas built their own homes. I've helped my dad with remodeling projects in our house (including but not limited to drywall, electrical, and plumbing). DH is very handy and we have remodeled our last two homes. I'm just handy enough I can lay hardwood flooring, tile, and hardwired lighting. Did I mention I want to learn how to weld (it runs in the family). I have found a house plan I really love. I've built the house in Google SketchUp, and I'm very happy with it. It looks so charming, and I really wanted something with character to 'blend in' with all of the wonderful old barns and farmhouses up there. I've posted it in the Small House forum too. I will be sure to post about the build (and leading up to) in the forums here. I've seen what the wonderful people here have done, and I have no doubt in my mind our house will be richer for it. That is so great to hear! I'm glad you finally got a weekend with Dad, and without the "But are these towels 100% pure Egyptian cotton?" woman. I don't know; why do I get the feeling that she was trying some control thing with your dad and trying to get him to cancel? You'd think that after he went without her, she'd have had the good sense to not publicly announce her "Fine, I'll show you" plans to the world. If she thinks she's going to start playing power games with your dad she might find herself surprised and dismayed by the result (fingers crossed!)

Yep see that is why I should not clean right? House computer anything I am tooo dangerous...LOL it is funny to look at the wedding pics cuz we were both a little bit smaller LOL!! Monin not only are we going to burn them to cd but he is going to buy me a external hard drive to put all my pics on.....Stacy

Good deal Stacy. My DD mentioned getting me an external hard drive too. I don't know if I'll be able to figure it out or not. But then, I haven't gotten it either.

I agree...STOP cleaning! At least get your pictures safe on a CD first. Great news though....that's devastating to lose pictures!

Forget the pictures.... someone mentioned cookies!!!! Let's keep on the important topics! You can get pictures every day, but good cookies are a different thing altogether! :D

LOL @ Vicki and cynic...I was supposed to make him a pineapple upside down cake today but who knew I mean WHO really knew that those cake mixs that say Pineapple Upside down cakes don't come with canned pineapple? Not me thats for sure...and I didn't go to town today...sooooo he will just have to be happy with the kiss I gave him! stacy

Stacy, do yourself a favor and get yourself an external hard drive. I got one at Wal Mart at Christmas time. For about $100, it will back everything up that's on your computer.

It comes with the usb cord. stick one end in the external drive. Stick one end into the computer. It does what it has to do without any help from you.

When it's done, you unplug it. Next time you feel compelled to "clean" and screw up the pictures, or anything else, everything will be safe and sound on the external drive and you can put it back on the computer yourself.

I am so happy I am bursting........
