I am SO happy!!!!!

Today I managed to match up my one neighbor, who had lost her Boston terrier this past spring (to old age) and another neighbor (they didn't know each other), who had rescued a pregnant mutt and fostered it. The dog had five puppies and she had found a home for the mom and three of the puppies, but still needed homes for the last two. I told them about each other and today my neighbor was showing off her new puppy and couldn't be happier. Actually I couldn't be happier that it all worked out!!

Oh I know-wow can it eat! This morning when I came downstairs I walked over and looked at him-there is little frass all over and the little leaf was gone! There is something I always wanted to do so I touched him and that litle osmeterium came out-that is so funny looking! I won't do it anymore but, I just had to see it for myself. Lasy year I made little containers-I cut the lids and put netting on them with glue. It is alot easier to bring one of them with you when you go looking for cats and eggs.It's small enough so I could fit it in my purse or backpack too. I have the egg in there all by itself. Aggie

Well, I am still here, I spent the day at the doctors offices, and hospital with my son. I did not get home until 6pm, and I was too tried to drive to the coast. I am so glad I was off so that I could be there for my son. I have my car packed and ready to go, I am leaving as soon as I wake up. I have left instructions with my hubby to do a porch check every day when he gets home. He has been given instructions, and he knows what to do in case Santa comes. Barbra,

I planted Sunset, Sunrise, Sunset and Harvest Moon. All are beautiful for awhile, then they start to fade back to parental hues, so that's when I deadhead to keep my color scheme. With the orange family, I have crocosmia mixes, asclepias mixes, agastache 'blue fortune', chaste tree, miscanthus 'Cosmopolitan', and bronze fennel. With the Harvest Moon (yellow), I use coreopsis 'Creme Brulee' with B&B Salvia, Adonis Blue buddleia and echinops 'Ritro'. In another bed, I have it interplanted with daylily 'Joan Senior' and 'Happy Returns'. As for clump size, they are doing quite well with lots of blooms. I did use bloom booster around them. Cameron

Wow, those are just stunning. I especially like the color on Alexandra, Marie Curie...well, actually all of them! Makes me want to run out and buy some. Do you have a separate rose garden or are they mixed in with other perennials? If you have a group shot I would love to see it. I have stayed away from roses until last year when I broke down and bought Paul's Himalayan Musk because it was on sale and I wanted a good-smelling climber for the deck post. This year I just bought a yellow carpet rose (can't remember the name at the moment), still in the pot waiting for me to decide where to put it. The reason I have been reluctant to buy roses is the JBs. At my old house I had some roses and those little monsters came in droves to feast. Do you have trouble with them or some great way to control the population? One more question...What kind of camera do you use? Those pictures are so clear. I want to replace/upgrade my digital camera for garden shots. Thanks for sharing, Gillian

Thanks, everyone! I have to say that I do feel really good about this. She is a cute little pup and will become a playmate for my two, so it's good for me too. Can't have too many good dogs in the neighborhood!!!

That's really a Happy Ending to that story, You did Good!

Recalls something that happened to me a few weeks ago.

To back up, about 7 years ago, my husband, while out washing his car, saw a car stop in the neighborhood & a little puppy get dumped. We rounded her up & brought her home. She was the cutest thing, but my husband said four dogs was one too many, though she was "accepted" by our three. Since she had the prettiest reddish fur, we named her "Ginger".

Since we had fostered several dogs at that time for a rescue group, I was able to talk them into showing her at their next animal adoption day, which was a few weeks before Christmas. I'm sure it "sweetened the pot" in that we took care of paying for her spaying, so the then-$100 adoption fee would go to the rescue group.

As it turned out, there was a little girl there wih her mother who wanted only a puppy for Christmas, and, amongst several, she picked out "Ginger". It was really hard giving Ginger up for me.

My husband delivered Ginger to her new family, who, it turned out, lived several blocks from us, and over the years, I've often walked by that house, looking for a sign or sound of Ginger, but never seeing/hearing her. Of course, I had no idea if the family even still lived there.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago. I decided to walk to Trader Joe's & on the way back, noticed a middle-aged man ahead of me walking a red-haired dog on that same street. My thought was "I wonder IF that could be Ginger?"

Sure enough, they both made a left-hand turn at the big yellow house & went in the front door! Ginger is much bigger & has gotten a little gray in the muzzle, but it was HER!!

I've often wondered how all the past dogs we fostered made out in their new homes, but was particularly gratified that life turnd out so well for Ginger.

Oh my gosh, kfca37, that story gives me goosebumps! It would be nice to keep tabs on all the animals that pass through our lives, wouldn't it?
