When to upgrade or change out AC/ heat system

Hello all, I located in Jacksonville FL and I have a 2000sq ft house built in Aug 2005 with a carrier AC/ heat pump system. I think the house is pretty well insulated with 10ft ceilings and there are return vents in all the rooms except the 2 bathrooms. The compressor is model # 38YCC043260, I think it is a 3.5 ton unit and I do not know the seer (probably 10 seer) and the air handler is Carrier model# FA4BNF042 and the heater package is KFCEH0801N08

My system seems to work fine however the electric bills in the summer time are $225 - $280 and they average $200 per mth in the winter. Is my electric bills high? We have a fridge in the garage and it is one of the older models, I heard that it could be costing up to $50 per mth.

1. Can I upgrade part of my system to make it more efficient, like add a variable speed fan and dehumidifier?

2. If I cannot upgrade, what would be a good choice system to go with? What would be an approximate cost?

3. How much money on a ball park would I save per mth in electric bills?

I am new to this so I am trying to educate myself.

Thanks in advance
