Happy Mother's Day!

That's it! Just Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers, moms and mommies. Enjoy your day being honored and honoring yours, for those of us fortunate to still have our mothers among us. If not, enjoy the wonderful memories of your mother.

I can't wait to see what my little ones made me at school -that wrinkled, over-fussed tissue paper wrapping with the crayon drawings are really tempting me this morning!

Happy Mother's Day to all those who are celebrating tomorrow.

Here the Spanish Mother's Day was last Sunday but the Germans will be celebrating tomorrow. So I was told when I went to the German bakery this morning and saw an assortment of little heart-shaped cakes with "Muttertag" scrolled on top with icing.

To all moms.....enjoy your day!

Jem! Thank you. I was already thinking of sharing this before reading your post. Conversation with my 16-year old today: "How come you agreed to this?" he asks. Raised eyebrow. "I know why people celebrate Mothers' Day. Why are you agreeing to do it?" he amplifies. "Because of the size of babies' noses," I reply without thinking. He raises his eyebrows. I can tell he's already starting to regret the conversation and I have to stand by my remark now lol. "Well," I explain. "They're really very small, babies' noses; very easy to pinch and it will probably only take a few minutes. Next time your mother p*sses you off, think about that for a moment." It's conversations like this that I enjoy most about motherhood. Thank your mothers today! lol Pagan

Islay, here is what I have done: As I said, I incorporated part of the techniques of making Peking duck, which is to separate the skin from the meat. It was very easy using a long spoon to get under the skin. At the sametime I pushed under the skin lots of seasoning which I mixed in some 5 spice seasoning. Then came the boiling soy sauce wash. The duck was air dried in the refrigerator overnight. With a convection oven set at 170F, the chicken was roasted for about 8 hours. Then it was put in the freezer for about 15 minutes while the oven was being preheated to 500F. It didn't take long for the skin to be "Peking duck" crispy in the oven. dcarch

Thank you, and a Happy Mother's Day to you too, and to everyone who functions as a mother, no matter who/what they are nurturing. Both my girls stopped today to visit. I had to smile, I know my kids well. Amanda brought a Family Farm gift certificate to go toward a new gate for the barnyard. Ashley brought flowers. One very sensible girl and one more emotional one, and they are both like me in their own ways. Plus they brought the Grandkids, so it's all good! I did not cook, other than a pan of brownies I made last night. Elery cooked a chuck roast, "pulled" it and mixed it with BBQ sauce, to be eaten on buns. It was pretty darned good, too! Annie

In the commercial sense the day has been abused. But the idea, lovely!

In the spirit of thanking everyone who ever mothered me, and there were and still are a treasured few. In the spirit of appreciation for my daughters and daughter-in-law for their goodness and love towards our grandchildren. In remembrance of teachers who were surrogates and informed my, my children's, and my children's children's sensibilities. For all of these maternal figures and for you, my friends on the CF.....

Happy Mother's Day, everyone! Give your mothers a big hug for me. Both my mother and my MIL have been gone for 5 years now, so I'd appreciate y'all giving your mothers a hug by proxy for me.
