More Prayers Needed Please

My son Mike is having surgery on his spine next Wednesday. We are all concerned about any surgery, but this one is pretty serious. He lives in Missouri so Jim and I can't be there. We leave in a few minutes to see the Radiologist. Please keep Jim in your prayers that they can shrink this tumor. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

Sandie, I hope your son's surgery goes as well as possible, that you all have good news soon, and that he heals quickly.

We just had to contend with closed roads around here due to flash floods. But elsewhere in Wisconsin, there are some wild water works going on. In Wisconsin Dells, a big tourist town in Wisconsin, a manmade lake drained completely! The lake was 245 acres in size. It drained into the Wisconsin River in about 2 hours. I wish my bathtub drained that fast! It took out a highway to get to the river and pulled along some sizable houses. Below is a video of some of the houses going into the water. Another town of 625 people in Wisconsin - Gay Mills - is seriously thinking of calling it quits. They just rebuilt from flooding that occurred last year and now they are up to their armpits in water again. Thank you all again. It's good to come here, as I mentioned on another post to 'escape'. Also to 'feel' the caring support from all of you. Update as of today...Dad needs a transfusion. It seems there is blood loss within the bone. His blood count has dropped, but I was told that in the elderly it's not uncommon. The problem is he's refusing it. We are trying to convince him it's for his own good if he wants to get better and go home. Tomorrow he'll make his decision. OA..you're right - nothing happens in the order we expect. Punk.. 'Looking up and asking for help' certainly does help get you through most situations. Kathleen...I remember you mentioning losing your Dad at a young age.. I thought how strong you mother was raising you and your sisters alone. As far as 'bittersweet' feelings on Christmas...I can totally relate to that. We lost DH's Mom on Christmas - his Dad on Easter..a Sister on Memorial Day, and now our Neice on Mother's Day.. As hard as it may be, it's so important for us to look forward and find the good in each day and make the most of it. janet1...I will keep your DGD in my prayers..and will look forward to you sharing all the 'Good News' about your new GGD. jan..thanks for all the helpful information. You brought up lots of good points on what to do once he's in rehab. Pictures, food and an Afghan are wonderful ideas. I just hope he accepts going to rehab eaisly..and that he agrees to one close enough to make the visits easy. You can see, with his personality...I can only 'suggest' it...lol He's the one in charge!! jane

My youngest DD went through a similar situation about the same time ago. She ended up with a antibiotic resistant infection and sepsis, most likely unrelated to her procedure and spent weeks in the hospital. My best thoughts and prayers for your Ashlee.

Thanks for all the prayers. He is not out of the woods yet. Here is the latest and thanks from my cousin. Clare Travis is at the Shriners Burns Hospital. He's getting the best care. We were told they won't know the full extent of his burns for at least 48 to 72 hours. It takes that long for burns "to declare themselves". He's having surgery Friday just to clean out 3rd degree burns on his right shoulder and upper back. Most of the burns seem to be 2nd and should heal by themselves. The only skin grafting would be in the area of those 3rd degree burns. All of the burns are in his upper body, neck and face. There's nothing below his chest. The good news is that Travis is very healthy and is in "stable" condition. Thank you so much for your prayers. You're the best!

Prayers on the way and my son in law went thru back surgery, not tumor, just disk problems. He is fine.

Thank you so much for your prayers. I am not sure if Mike will be in rehab or not. I want so much to be there for him,but Jim will probably be starting radiation next week.We saw the Radiologist this afternoon and she says that it is good that Jim is not having pain in his hip.A lot of people wait until they are in pain and by that time the tumor is eating into the bone and he could have a broken hip or leg.Luckily they have been monitoring him all this time,so she thinks that things will go well. Mike doesn't have a tumor,it is several discs and a lot of nerve damage.Again, thank you for your prayers.They mean a lot to me.
