child lock stuck on my lg washer?

I have the LG Tromm Steamwasher (Model WM2487HWM) and I am getting an error code of CL. Googling around I found that it means the Child Lock feature is engaged. The problem is getting it to DISENGAGE.

LG's site says to push and hold the Tub Clean/Child Lock button for 3 seconds to clear it. It doesn't work. That stupid feature is STILL engaged. I read that the Temp/option buttons should be pushed at the same time but that doesn't apply to my model (I don't think) as I have neither of those buttons. I'm frustrated and at a loss. How the heck do I get that code to clear? I did search before posting this but couldn't find anything in this forum related to my specific problem.

Anyone have any ideas?

I have 2496 model and my buttons are different. I have child lock/prewash button but I was curious and looked around and I found this info: (not much)

Try buttons "dry" & "spin" together for a few seconds. This is the child lock display.

Or press "end of cycle" for over 5 seconds.

Or press "options & select" till the light goes off.

Works for other machines

Seems that CL code is not "faulty" code, there isn't much on web to go by other than trying to push some buttons up to 5 seconds before calling for service.
Now Cl code on dryer is another story-communication error between boards. Replace both display board and control board. I learn something every day.

I am happy to report that the problem is related to the sensor under the glass and its likely not positioned correctly. So take the palm of your hand and put it over and around the control lock key and presto, out of control lock. I just fixed mine this way, from information provided by another member here.

Dont you think that if they had left the machine alone it would still be fine today, other than the plastic squeak? I know as I said before that the old Calypsos had this type hanging system(and possibly GE) and I have heard the Calypso make the squeak and creak noise. As I told you before I hate to have something new with a "flaw" but I have also felt that sometimes I was too picky and would convince myself I needed to get it checked out only to be sicker(& madder)after service. A car for example, have a small rattle, carry in for service, they take half the car apart to fix it, then when you start home you no longer have that rattle, you have three more to go with it where they took things apart--now that is my luck--and I am thinking"Why on earth didnt I live with one small rattle but it is too late to back up then". Just go forward from here and I think I would try another one like you have. It seems like a great washer and you know that the LG made F/L didnt last you very long so maybe this next one will?. OH and about Sears using Electolux now instead of LG for front-loaders, I have always been told it depends on who bid the cheapest to build them. Not sure if that is true but I have heard that. Maybe you need to start looking for the 57 Lady Kenmore!

My concern is that it is somewhere between the inner basket and the outer tub but did not use the correct terminology in my post. I am worried that it might pierce the outer tub as it did in my top loader years ago, "clog up the works" or puncture a seal in another way. In wore the suit 3 days prior and the wire was in place but I did notice that it had momentarily poked through it's cloth casing. I adjusted it and made a mental note that the casing needed stitching (but i did not get around to it before I washed it). I noticed that there was a slight rubbing/scraping sound during that load of all bathing suits but i thought it was due to something else in the contents. I have not heard it again in subsequent loads that I ran before i realize the wire was missing. I do question however how the wire got out of the fine mesh lingerie bag. That has also happened before but it got stuck on the bag. Arggg!

Powder or liquid detergent? I think one requires you to remove a certain item from the cup for it to work. Can't speak to the water thing. My LG is loud enough, but I just shut the door and think happy thoughts. The Sammy's are supposed to be quieter due to better internal mounting struts. I'd have the guy come out and recheck the leveling, making sure that all 4 feet are on the ground. And that the shipping bolts were removed. Check the laundry forum.

If worst comes to worst you can try unplugging it for a couple hours and see if it resets the internal computer. Works for my Frigi Affinity.

I just had it happen to my Lg wm2140cw model. All I had to do was press and hold the OPTION button for 3 seconds and it resets it.

My friend was about to buy a new washer and had me looking for one for around 7-800 dollars because she claimed it was broke and only "CL" was showing. I typed in what does CL mean on a washing machine, saw the above, pushed the Tub Clean for about 10 seconds (three did not work), and PRESTO!! it all started again. Thanx for the info ...

I had a similar issue. On my machine, you have to press the "wrinkle care" button for 3 seconds, as it doubles as the child lock button.

Hey same problem but I fixed. There is small lock icon. Press and hold for 5 second, everything will be fine.

Turns out the child lock indicator is broken on our machine and is now always lit up, which is what confused us until I figured it out. Now, the only way to know if the child lock is active or not is by pressing a button and see if it activates or responds with CL. If it responds with CL, then we unlock it with the 3-second press-and-hold of the two buttons that are indicated by the smiling lock icon.
