1 very sad news-2 good news-(1 pic)

I haven't been on much lately since I haven't felt well. I just wanted to update everyone.

Last Sunday my son's Tatum was hit by a car and she died immediately. She was Chad's dog, but quickly became mine too and we all loved her soooo much. We really miss her. Here's a picture that you've probably seen before of Tatum and I taken January '07.

Now for the good news:

  1. Yesterday was my last day of chemo. So I no longer have to carry that bag everywhere I go!!!! That is such a relief! It was so heavy and I have lost so much weight, that it was a real burden. And tomorrow is my last day of radiation so no more daily trips to San Antonio! I am ready for my body to get back to a little bit of normal and for my appetite to get better. I weigh less than I did as a Senior in High School!


    2. Jammer and I plan to get married this weekend. After 12 years of living together and being totally in love and dedicated to each other, we decided it was about time.

Thanks to all of you who have prayed, thought about me, and sent cards. It has meant so much to me.

    I know you're not supposed to congratulate the bride, just the groom, but what the heck!? Congratulations to both of you for bagging a winner in my book.

    Glad that the treatments will be over. Best wishes and much love to you both.

    The retiring of this thread will be a siginificant loss to the culture of the GW Kitchen Forum, in my opinion. It orginated from a community perception of the need to organize and preserve valuable shared knowledge about kitchen renos. Buehl stepped up and organized - and then faithfully maintained the thread over its many incarnations. And all of us watched out for it and threw in the needed bumps to keep it visible on the front page. We often referred newbies to it, confident it would be there for them, as it had been for many of us when we started out. This thread perfectly matched the down-to-earth, problem-solving atmosphere of the KF in a way that having most of the same content parked up in a static thread by the management will not.     Nope Enduring. The sink pic is upside down no matter which way I turn the iPad. However, it is just fine on my Mac. I thought it was just a fluck yesterday and figured things would straighten out today. It's been a crazy day with our senior dog at the vets. I got on GW for some sanity tonight but "New To Kitchens.." just continues the craziness. I think I should cut my losses and go read a book. ;) Big BUMP to get this baby off of pg 3.

    You sure know how to pack a lot into a post!

    I am very sorry to hear about Tatum. It must be a relief to know that she did not suffer. I'm sure she is very much missed.

    Wonderful about finishing BOTH the Chemo and the Rads. I prescribe a caloric celebratory meal and chocolate dessert!

    You and Jammer have had quite a year! You have already lived the vows, so I see your point that you might as well make them official. :-) I'm wishing you a wonderful married life together.

    MaryAnn, I'm so happy your done with chemo and radiation and even more happy for your marriage this weekend! You two make a great couple and after all you two have been through, I'm pretty sure its love. lol!!

    Tatum, what a sweetheart she had to have been, such a nice picture. Sorry to hear she died so suddenly.

    Gee Maryann.....Leave it to you to kind of sneak news like that into another post...and only give us a week ....

    I think you should hop a plane and go somewhere in the middle of the states and we could have a giant KT get together. Can you imagine all of us at your wedding......

    Why,.... it would be the social wedding of the year.....LOL

    I am happy for you...although some say...."what does a piece of paper mean..."....To me it means a lot...

    With you two I don't think it will change a thing...the love and the commitment will always be the same for you...I'm sure...

    Now sit back, gain a little weight (I could send you all you need and more for a wedding gift...hehe)
    And grow old together...

    Hug and kisses for you both...

    And I'm sorry about your pet....good ones are hard to replace....If that's possible at all.

    I'm elated to hear your news about marriage and finishing chemo. So glad to hear you are doing well and looking towards the future. We may be a distance apart geographically, but I feel we really are at the kitchen table, sharing life.

    And, my condolences on the loss of a dear friend.

    MaryAnn, I am so very sorry about Tatum. She's a beauty and I know how much it has to hurt.

    But the rest of your news is FANTASTIC!!!!! I'm so glad you're done with the chemo and radiation. Hope you get stronger each day.

    I'm sending you and Jammer the biggest and best wishes I can muster for your upcoming wedding! Big hugs to both of you. You two are made for each other and I couldn't be happier to hear this news.

    I'm so sorry about the loss of your furryfriend! Tatum was a beautiful one! So glad the chemo is over and you can concentrate on gaining some weight and strength.     I am so sorry about Tatum, she was beautiful and will be missed alot I am sure.

    Isn't it great that your chemo and radiation will be all over!!! I know you are relieved to have that behind you.

    Well what do you know...you guys are finally going to tie the knott. I can't think of a better couple for it to happen to. You guys are great together. Many, many happy years together. Mike and I are happy for you.

    Best Wishes to you and Congratulations to Jammer. How Wonderful.

    I'm so thrilled for you to have the chemo and radiation all behind you. Now the only way to go is 'up'.

    Sorry to hear of your loosing Tatum. What a fine looking doggie. Maybe it will help to let your fingers do the walking in finding a new furbaby on line that needs a loving home. I found my pup through petfinders.com.

    I am so sorry to hear about Tatum, I do remember the pic of you and her. Here are some ((((HUGS)))) for you and your family.
    Congratulations going your way for exciting weekend coming with Jammer. I did not realize that you and him were together that long.

    I know you must really be thrilled that your chemo and radation is over. I am sending you some prayers and special thoughts your way also.

    You are a very pretty lady and Tatum was/is a beautiful dog. I'm so sorry that he is no longer with y'all.
    That truly is wonderful news about your finishing radiation and chemo AND getting married.
    I'm back around the table some again. Been pretty busy, but making time to reaquaint myself with you all.

    Congratulations on finishing your chemo and radiation! My MIL finished hers 2 months ago and is glowing. Her hair is coming back and she feels really good.

    I'm so sorry for your loss of Tatum, nothing can heal the hole they leave in your heart, someday perhaps you and Chad be ready for a new buddy. Hugs to all of you.

    YEAHAW!!!! on the end of Chemo and Radiation, so glad that is over for you. Do you get to trash the last bag or however its delivered yourself? We could all do a happy dance with you at the appointed hour!

    I'm so sorry about Tatum...I know it must have been devastating to all of you...All of you are in my thoughts and prayers...these animals carve little niches in our hearts and that hole is hard to fill when they leave us...

    Great news about the Chemo!!...Can we have a burn party for that bag? What did you end up keeping it in? I know you must be thrilled for that to be over and I pray this awful part of your life is well behind you!

    Awwww, Mary Ann, that Tatum was a beauty and my heart hurts for you, Chad and the family. :(

    Now, excuse me if I shout YIPPEE--FREEDOM! I do know that freedom and it's the greatest feeling, isn't it? You've been in my thoughts daily.

    Maryann, so sorry to hear about Tatum. Such a hard way to loose a beloved pet.

    And so happy to know that you are free of the miseries caused by the chemo and that daily trip for radation. I am sending my bestest wishes for a speedy return to feeling normal again. Also sending best wishes for a long and happy life with Jammer. He is a keeper, as are you.

    Thank you all so much for the kind words!
    For those of you who thought Jammer and I were already married....well, we were in heart. Now we are just doing the legal stuff.

    I have felt guilty ever since I made this post because I felt I didn't say enough about Tatum. It's just so hard to say how much she meant to all of us and how much we miss her. I have told stories here about her. She kind of reminded me of Marley in the book Marley and Me. She was soooo hyper and soooo big! She broke two of my toes on two different occasions just because she was running around me and I was barefooted. I quickly learned to always have something on my feet when around her! And when I took her on the leash, LOL, was like seeing a cartoon. Tatum trying to run and me being dragged behind! We didn't even use a typical leash, we used a horse lead rope. LOL She loved socks and we had to make sure none were laying around if she was in the room. One time she grabbed a thin black sock and then making sure she was just beyond my reach, she stared deep into my eyes and proceeded to swallow the sock. I could tell she felt so satisfied to do that. Anyway, she has left a big hole in our lives, but we have some great memories.

    As far as the wedding plans....we are getting married tomorrow in our church. Just Jammer, me and the preacher. I am still not feeling well and don't feel like being around people.
