Blue Mtn Woodworking - thanks again Craftlady07!

We finally got to Blue Mtn last night - love them! Worked with Heather and told her about my friend Andrea - aka Craftlady07 (who I've never met - in person anyway!!!!). LOL! I was really impressed with the cabinets - they have some really nice displays! Blum hardware for the drawers. Since we both work, Heather kept the place open for us so we could come after work.

We changed things around a bit and added a few things, so I don't have the exact quote just yet, but I can tell you our original quote for 15 cabinets, including a 48" pantry w/roll-outs, 72" peninsula cabinet, 2 corner cabs w/lazy susans and a couple of sets of drawers was just over $10k installed, for maple with a glaze. Oh, and just found out last night that also includes the hardware!! And they have a really nice selection on-site to pick from.

After looking around, we ended up dropping the glaze and copying you, craftlady, I'm going with the cinammon stain! I started this process set on glaze, but we are trying to cut costs to get everything we want, plus I worry about it going out of style. When I saw the cinammon both DH & I loved it and decided to save the money (not a huge cost but every bit helps!) We are not doing inset, but I don't think it adds a ton to the price.

I know a couple other people in my area (Hunterdon County NJ) were interested in Blue Mtn. I met DH@ the Clinton Walmart and it took us less than 40 minutes. It's in a very rural area - I thought for sure we had missed it! But I think it's well worth the trip. Heather was great, and they are willing to build anything you want - she's working on designing a mud room/locker set-up for us now.

Craftlady - let me know how install goes and how the cabs look on Tuesday!! Pictures please!! I should have thought to bring my camera!

Hi KNGWD! I am a few min. from the walmart in clinton, so that is good news that it's only 40 min away. I'm so happy you got yours all figured out, it looks like my plans to be installed by May is slipping away, for money reasons, so it's nice to hear you got a good price, the only price I got so far is 22,000, and don't think that's going to happen. Do you know how many linear feet you have? I have 35, but I will def. go see them, did u have your plan before you went to see them? Can't wait to see/hear about craft;aldy's, thanks again, Michelle

Thanks for keeping us updated! I'm in Livingston, so it's not too far. I'm not quite there (still trying to pick a contractor), but I plan on checking them out. Can't wait to see your pictures!

Guessing by looking through images online...I don't KNOW that these are correct names but just putting out something to give a visual of what they look like.. Sedum makinoi 'Limelight' Sedum Stonecrop (still no name. Flowers very pale pink and kind of look a little lavender late summer to fall and the flowers do not get darker, if anything they fade a little so it isn't autumn joy...) Dianthus chinensis 'Floral Lace Picotee' Dichondra 'Silver Falls' Euonymus japonica, Golden Euonymus Buddleia davidii 'Butterfly Heaven' Too, I wanted to add, I have a nut grass, mint, and ant infestation. I also managed to transfer some other aggressive weeds I have never seen into the yard last year. It is so bad that I can't even transfer things from one place to another in my own yard without making it worse. It is so frustrating I feel like setting it all on fire and starting over LOL. All of the things I have to bring, however, are from cuttings that I took and cultivated in the greenhouse in new potting soil and sand. I don't use chemicals in the yard but I will blast them with liquid sevin in the greenhouse without remorse or regret so all of those things should be bug and weed free...

Thanks Alison! I actually found a picture in the "where do you put your recycling thread from lolauren that I think was really clever... I love this idea b/c it would make the trash accessible from the sink on the sink wall w/o having to step around the counter... I am going to check w/ our cabinet maker to see if this will work w/ a pull out bin that pulls out towards the front... of course I know it won't be able to pull out in both directions but even so it would be easier I think if there is some way to do it (I'm worried about how the glides would attach of course if that door is operable, but hopefully he can come up w/ something... IF it can work, I'll put a single door cabinet there I guess and then one to match on the other side of the drawers.

I live in a 1937 Cape Cod. All of the original trim and doors were painted (all different colors) when I bought it. The PO had done some 'modernizing' and put in stained wood trim in a more modern style in my office and bedroom. I couldn't wait to get that taken out of my bedroom and paint it. It's painted in my office but one day the style in here will match the rest of the house. I use an 'almost white' for the trim in the whole house. But, I got a bee in my bonnet when I painted the teeny front entry in BM Wythe Blue last January, that the original door would look better stained inside. I FINALLY completed that stripping, sanding, and staining (Minwax English Chestnut) and polying, and the door went back in today. I thought it was part Douglas fir, but a man replacing my original threshold planed down the door a bit to put in new weather stripping and said it's all oak. Can you LOVE a door? The transformation cost me just a few dollars, and what pride I am taking in my little project. But, would I ever do stained trim, though? Absolutely not. Before, when I was playing with paint colors to replace the SW Blonde - And today - when the door went back in. 'Scuse the lamp shade in the lower right! I did other changes in the interim in the entry, too.

Your carpet is very neutral and about the same color as hardwood floors would be. Just consider the floor background and ignore - your vibrant furnishings will be the eye catchers. The owls are adorable, but what about a dark blue buffalo check instead of black and white to coordinate with it?this is serena and lily, but there are lots of places with different blues this is grandin road

I was at Blue Mtn. today, I spoke to Kyle, Heather's husband, his dad owns the company. They have very nice stuff, Kyle seemed very easy to talk to and was open to our ideas. I hope to have his pricing in a week or so. We have our plans and also photos of our existing kitchen so he see how things fit in, etc. The detailed you can get the better numbers he can give you.

Trip out to Dutchwood next week, then we should be ready to sign a contract!

Easy to get to Blue Mtn.for you take Rt 78 west, to 33 north, to 22 west, to route 512 north, left on 946 ( traffic light), on the left side about a mile down.

oh that is such wonderful news kngwd, I am so so happy that it's all working out for you! Heather is such so freaking nice, we email all the time it seems. And Kyle is great! He might not be the most professional person out there but you can tells he's very knowledgeable and has been around this a very long time. And I'm convinced he and DH are long lost friends or something, the similaraties are just astounding.

nyyankeesfan - That's cool that you went there today too, I didn't realize you were interested in them. Good luck and let me know how it goes!

We're also getting about 14 or 15 cabinets (only 1 drawer base and rollouts in 2 others, glass in 1 upper cabinet that's 12" deep, the rest are 15" deep. upper and base LS, 36" wide sink base, and the over the fridge and the OTR microwave cabinets) and our installed price is about $8.5k (the granite that we're also getting through them is about $2.5k).

I'm so happy, I was nervous about making these types of recommendations on a site like this, but now I'm so glad I did!!

I was looking at some of your posts today after visiting Blue Mtn.and noticed we like the same stuff!! The cabinets you are getting are the same ones we are interested in!! Only we are getting overlay instead of the inset. We have more draws, like all of the bottoms,and paint on the top but the same stain on the bottom. We can not wait to see how you like your kitchen when it is installed this week. PLEASE post photos...lol. Our layout is very similar to yours except we have an island. If our quotes come in within a few K of yours that will be great!!

That's awesome! I was a lttle worried that the cinnamon stain is too orange, but the more I look at the sample I think it'll be great.
I hadn't even given the inset much thought because I didn't think we could afford it but once I saw it and he gave us the price I knew it was the exact look I wanted. I'm so thrilled that it worked out for us :)
I think the paint/stain combo will look awesome, I've always liked that look.

I just hope the rain/snow holds off until later on tuesday so we can actually get our cabinets installed :) But no matter when they get installed, I'll have pictures, no worries!

Hi Guys! I'm very excited for everyone, I was starting to think I might have to postpone my project till next year if the cabs. cost 22,000, but hopefully if I get a price of 15,000 i can do it this spring as planned. I have about 15 cabs as well, with pantry like kwnd, but I want a wood hood and also have an island-not too big though, Tom let me know what you think and the price, since I think we have sim. size-thanks again to all for being so helpful!
