We can't speak to that model, but have had the Intuitive Eco (IWL16) for about 5 weeks now. It's the next model up and sells for 799 at Lowes. It's a special order -- not on the floor -- and we had our delivered 6 days after order.

It is deadly silent and is by far and away the BEST washing machine we have ever had. It sits in a laundry room that backs the kitchen and we can never hear it with the door closed. The dryer is now louder than the washer, even when it spin dries at 1000 RPM. Best bang for the buck anywhere, IMHO. Cleaning really dirty stuff is no issue. Do not believe energy/ water claims outright. All are different. But, it does use less water that our 9 yr old Kenmore 'top-of-line at the time' did.

We did not want an FL with all the "leave door open" "clean the filter 1/month" "wipe the door seal often" constant stuff.
Why? Because if I wanted another high maintenance girlfriend in the house, I never would have gotten married... ;-)

I've had that washer and dryer for about a year now and still love them, no problems. However I can't comment on the water or energy savings, since the units were bought upon moving to a different state.

I think this set cleans just as well as my last set, which were Kenmore front-loaders. I guess they use a bit more water, but they take up less space and are much easier on the wallet. For really dirty stuff, I add some Oxy-Boost.

Be aware that the WA37TG1 EcoSmart model is specifically designed toward saving water & energy and is somewhat restrictive in options for getting a hot wash.

IWL16 Intuitive Eco is much more versatile, with options to reduce energy and water use ... or to use plenty of hot (or warm) water and lots of rinsing if/when needed. The "Muddy" Lifecycle runs an agitated prewash, drains, then does a low-water shower wash followed by an agitated main wash, then tons of rinsing.

DE60 is a traditional front-load dryer sourced from GE. A competent performer. But if you're not restricted by a budget, the DE62TG1 SmartLoad or DEIX2 Intuitive toploading dryers are excellent.

If I could not purchase a German made Miele, I would go Fisher & Paykel. Their top load dryer is very cool and in my opinion, nobody makes a better top load machine.

Arkangels, I will second (and third and fourth) everything said here. If possible, take the small step up to the Intuitive Eco washer and Intuitive top load dryer. The cost is only a little more, and the machines rock. I've had mine over a year and-a-half now and they are easily the best washer and dryer I've ever had; front load, top load, or whatever. For the most part the Intuitive can be run "set n' forget" and will clean better than you can imagine, BUT it has enough flexibility that you an modify just about every aspect of the wash sequence (which cannot be done with the EcoSmart model). Want a full, deep hot wash? No problem. Many pre-set Life Cycles to choose from for custom washes (muddy, swim wear, stains, etc.)

And the dryer? Wow. Not sure I could go back to scraping lint screens again (I just empty the lint buck once a week as part of trash collection). I love the auto-reversing feature that lets me load it up and never get tangles, and the 24-hour anti wrinkle (periodic tumble) feature is better than any dryer I've seen. Most seem to allow only an hour or two before they stop.

The F&P is at the top of my list of considerations when and if I need to replace "old reliable". It's an impressive machine.
