Love cream of wheat WITH lumps!

I love both. My gosh, I haven't had cream of wheat for, probably, 40 years. Think about it every so often, but never when I'm in the store. I don't eat oatmeal nearly as often as I should. I don't know why, I always have it on hand.

Yummmmm, I love them both. I really love steel cut oats; they take awhile to cook, but they're so chewy and good - I always make a big batch and reheat servings for days :)

YummmmmmmI love both...I often have oatmeal for lunch...like a cold rainy day like today is the perfect time. I make my oatmeal with low fat milk and sweeten it while it is cooking with Splenda...It's like some heavenly dessert to me...I love Cream of wheat too...and I make it the same way...

Cannot stand oatmeal, I've tried, I really have. Cream of Wheat is ok and I like Grits.

I love both. I'm eating a bowl of oatmeal right now. It is the one minute kind. I add about a half tsp. of oleo, enough milk to keep it from being one big yucky blob and three packets of Splenda.

No, don't eat either of those, but this time of year, every morning, I make myself a bowl of hot, cornmeal mush for breakfast--with a little pure maple syrup. YUM!

I eat the Honey Nut Oatmeal for breakfast every morning. I wouldn't say I love oatmeal, I eat it more for the health benefits and also because I need to eat something for breakfast.

I have never had Cream of Wheat. If it is full of iron, I may have to try it!

Crasiens are dried cranberries sold in the rasin section of the store.

I also like Malt O Meal--and be sure to try the recipe for their muffins on the package. I think they are called Magic Muffins, not sure.

Love oatmeal, but not the microwave kind. I put fat free 1/2 and 1/2 on mine. Today I had grits with butter.

I don't like anything of that gloppy texture. I think I must have choked on some as a baby.

on the west coast we had wheart hearts hot cereal, and i liked it beter than cream of wheat or cream of rice...

can't remember if it were here or hgtv food section they talked about over-night old fashion oatmeal in the crockpot...

another brand i LOVED was only in washington state, but available online...it was really good...

Kathy, if you had to eat my mother's oatmeal, you wouldn't like it either. She made it so slimey that I lost it one morning before school. I'm surprised I ever grew to like it all LOL. That came after I learned how to cook it.

Yes, I like oatmeal and Cream of Wheat. And Cream of Rice, and Malt-o-Meal, and Zoom, and Steel Cut Oats.

Oatmeal is very good for you, it's what we sometimes add that makes it less so. I love mine with butter, brown sugar, and walnuts or almonds on top. At home I use the 5-minute cooking oats. I keep a package of organic instant hot oatmeal (flax 'n oats) at work for days I've either forgotten to bring lunch or just need a little something.

Whenever I make Cream of Wheat, Cream of Rice, or Malt-O-Meal, I always make extra, add the sugar and butter, then put the extra in the refrigerator. I love it cold, kind of like pudding. I often eat it as a snack in the evening while watching TV.

yummm, I like both. Grits too! I only know of one place in Seattle to get grits, so I rarely get to eat it.

Another big fan here. My DS and I have it every Saturday morning. He likes oatmeal more then Cream of Wheat. I like both.

I love it with either brown sugar or maple syrup, raisins or crasins, nuts. I really love the McCann's Irish Oatmeal kind that you cook overnight in the slower cooker. I keep forgetting to pick some up.

I don't like the instant oatmeal microwave packets. I buy the big box of it because it is cheaper and I go through it so fast. I love fresh fruit on it in season. Though in winter I sometimes put a banana and 1/2 & 1/2 on it. Yum!

Like kathy, I can't eat Cream of Wheat, grits, oatmeal, rice pudding, tapioca or that Italian corn mush stuff. Something about the texture, my throat just won't cooperate no matter how hungry I am. I even have to eat cold cereal very quickly before it loses its crunch.

I love both! I usually just add sugar or brown sugar. Definitely brown sugar to the cream of wheat.

I love Cream of Wheat and eat it almost every weekend. I do not like sweet, but love savory, so I eat mine with salt, pepper, butter, and proscuito (italian cured ham). I like to cook it so it is pretty hard texture. I don't like it runny.

Clare, I am a big fan of McCann's Irish oatmeal also. I add dried fruit while it is cooking (blueberries, strawberries, etc.). And when it is done I had about 1T of honey and add a few Ts of nuts (toasted almonds or walnuts).

There is really a big difference between Irish/Scottish oatmeal and the American kind. Much tastier, IMHO.

Put two TBL ground flaxseed in my oatmeal! Sure keeps you regulated! :o)

I used to hate oatmeal. About once a year I would try it again, hoping to learn to like it, but I could never get down more than just a few bites. UNTIL I figured out a way to make it that I just love! Now I could eat it everyday. I use regular Quaker oats, not instant. I cook it in the microwave according to directions, 1/2 cup oats, 1 cup water and a dash of salt on high for three minutes. When it comes out, I stir in 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, 1/2 T. brown sugar, and some diced dried apple. I stir this up, then sprinkle another 1/2 T. brown sugar on the top along with 1 or 2 T. chopped walnuts. A little milk on the top, and I'm in heaven. Everything in the bowl is good nutritionally, except the brown sugar. If I don't have dried apple, I chop up some fresh apple, maybe 1/3 cup, and add it to the bowl at the start and cook it with the oats.

Boy, Shea. You make a gourmet dish of it. Sounds delicious. The instants have a lot of different flavors. Apples and cinnamon was one of my daughter's favorites. I hate the instants, but that's where I got the peaches & cream idea from. Also love it with maple & brown sugar.

I love oatmeal and Cream of Wheat. Usually I eat oatmeal. I can't stand the instant stuff, way too sweet. When I cook Cream of Wheat, I add raisins while it is cooking. Add cinnamon to the oatmeal while it is cooking. I microwave some frozen berries and add them to the cereal, along with non-fat milk. I don't add any sugar.

I love both oatmeal & Cream of Wheat. I like regular oatmeal usually because the instant is too sweet for my diabetes. Now they have instant oatmeal with only 2 gms. of sugar, called Weight Control. The maple & brown sugar flavor is great & I can eat it without guilt. I still put margarine & Sweet & Low on it, and some milk.

I used to HATE oatmeal. Went to Ireland and changed my mind after eating some of the best I've ever had. Now I eat it every morning (cooked, plain kind) with a little brown sugar or honey and skim milk. Yum!!

I have a bowl of plain grits for breakfast every morning at work. Very low cal, and only 2-4 points on weight watchers, depending on the amount used.

I will have to try the others. I wonder if grits is as good for you as the others. Anybody know?

I like oatmeal but it does not agree with me, Cream of wheat and I get along okay but I really like grits
just wish I could make them like my Mom did with a soft boiled egg and not the instant grits. When
I make them, the grits do not turn right. I guess I will have to suffer without my grits.

I like both, but my absolute favorite is McCann's Irish Steel Cut Oatmeal. It has a much coaser texture and yummy nutty taste. It takes longer to cook so I put it into a small slow cooker overnight so that it is ready to eat in the morning. I add raisins or nuts and top it with brown sugar and cream. It is traditionally served with fresh buttermilk but I prefer cream with sugar or honey and butter. There is no better breakfast!

I've always enjoyed oatmeal, which we had at home on the farm ... but brother hated it: he'd sit contemplating the dish for 15 min., while it got cold. Still doesn't like it, he says!

I like some raisins or dates in it, then brown sugar, milk and half and half. I'll have try the cinnamon and crumbled nuts. Large flake can be left soaking overnight (including the raisins).

I don't care much for the flavoured stuff in the individual packs, rather sweet - not like the old-fashioned kind ... plus my frugal nature would weep were I to buy it. Uncle had some packs, when I stayed here after his wife died.

I like Red River Cereal, multi-grain (about 7?), including flax, as well. Don't have any at the moment, but plan to get some at the bulk store soon.

Do some of you add some wheat germ when your main ingredient is one of the others? Many say that it's nutritionally beneficial. We find that it gets rancid after a while in summer, so store it in the fridge then.

I, feeling a slight pang of hunger, just felt the need to go to the kitchen to get a cooking date - did so.

But - only ... one ... left! Must visit the bulk food store ... soon!

I love them both. DH and I were discussing Cream of Wheat the other day. I haven't had any in years. I don't like the lumps so I put the Cream of wheat in the cold water before I bring it to a boil. No lumps.

I like oatmeal once in a while. Sorry but cream of wheat to me looks and smells like wallpaper paste.Yuck! My Dad use to like it. I couldn't get by the smell.

Oatmeal is my favorite cereal.I usually buy the large flake 5 min type.I also love Cream Of Wheat,but don't cook it as often.I'm probally one of the few Canadians that loves grits and always order them when I'm down south.Alas!Have never seen them in our grocery stores around here.

You'll think me crazy but I like to make a slice of toast, lightly butter it and cut into small pieces and stir into my oatmeal.

I started doing this when I worked in a nursing home and the sister of a patient I was feeding was saying how her sister liked toast but couldn't eat it anymore. So, I decided to try putting the toast in her oatmeal and she really liked it and got her toast and oatmeal. When I got home decided to try it myself and by golly it was pretty darn good.

Both make me gag. I think at one time when I was very little I did . I love oatmeal cookies and can use oatmeal in meatloaves etc but to just eat it I can't I can't even stand the smell of it

Oatmeal is one of my everyday foods, I get the old-fashioned kind but fix it in the microwave anyway. I'm on South Beach diet but needed some fiber and so I tried oatmeal and I love it. I put enough Splenda in to make it pretty sweet and a dash of 1% milk too. My cholesterol dropped 18 points after a few months of this. : )

My mother MADE me eat one or the other every morning until I started 7th grade. Haven't had either one since, and won't until too far gone to know what they're putting in my mouth!
