We've had the LG WM2688 washer & DLG 8388 gas dryer (DLE 8377 electric) for a few months and love them.

Bought the washer NIB from LG dealer on ebay. $1200+$100 sh
Bought the dryer scratch&dent & (2) pedastals from another seller on ebay.

The only thing to check is if there is an LG repair shop in town.

They seem to be few and far between.

Some repair shops are complaining of not being paid well for LG repairs.

The LG service manuals are avaliable online and look good, and seem easy to repair.

I had to remove and reinstall a dryer drum on the (s&d) LG dryer.

I don't know much about the other brands, except what I read on this and other forums.

May I ask why Whirlpool and Miele aren't in the running?

whirpool isnt the problem at all...im having a bad expierience with the kenmore oasis.(made from whirpool),and i dont think i can trust them anymore.but i know the he5t from kenmore most probably are made from whirpool,but i havent heard any bad things \lately..maybe im considering the samsung..just too may to chose from..

I have the WM2487 SteamWasher and matching dryer almost a year now and I have been estatic w/the performance not to mention looks. The machines are well built, very quiet and short of a lot of BS that you see on the other brands. There are FL rules though, with keeping the door open until the drum is completely dry, HE detergent, correct balancing etc. As the name says....LUVMYLG!!!

DMary, we have had the HE5t washer and dryer since Sept 26 of 2007 and no problems. It is not the steam one just the regular set. Make sure you have a solid floor to install the washer on(no matter what brand). This is our first front loader and my wife of soon to be 47 years lovs it.
It uses less water, no off balance loads like the Oasis.
We have found that HE Cheer works better that HE Tide.
The dryer while not a dual motor one like the Oasis works well. Yes with a front loader we wipe out the door seal when done for the day and leave the door open. We also make use of the clean cycle on the washer.
Let me know if you are going HE5t route---as delievery men must follow rules when setting it up.............
Is Sears finally gonna help you out on this??? If so , make sure they transfer your protection plan to the new set if it is Sears...................Good Luck!!

im still on the ongoing battle,just waiting for news..their supposed to change the rps sensor and the timer,but its also the rust im still fighting for ..now im left with no machine and alot of frustration.right now im just checking out the reviews on other machines..just in case(hopefully)they will take them back.

Samsung china build = Killed maytag company with bad 24" washer sub build
bosh german build
good machine but expensive parts and lack of techs too fix.
Kenmore = whirlpool build mostly but some frigidare build. Whirlpool build is best but sears has whirlpool change part numbers on parts and up cost for repairs, so on that note stick with whirlpool brand.
Suggest Whirlpool Duet 9400 series or new steam 9600 series, best value and record for the money.

For all you that have a stinky front loader? try the new product called affesh for front loaders. affresh.ca to see what im talking about. i have tried it in my front loader and it rocks.
