spacing between wall oven and fridge
Comments (5)The main concern is potential interference between the oven door (when open) and the refrigerator door. You can put a nasty dent in the fridge door if someone whacks it into an open oven door. This is especially a concern with a larger family / young teenagers in the house. Refrigerator doors swing fairly wide, although 15 inches sounds like plenty of space to me. If you're concerned, go look at your fridge in the showroom and measure how far beyond the side of the fridge the doors swing when fully open. You might be able to get a piece to limit the door swing or adjust a stop on the door, depending on the mfr. Honestly, though, with 15" I think you'll be OK. Comments (2)Most standard fridges, especially types like French door, are almost 36", so there is often a 36" cabinet above with side panels that come down beside, leaving 36" space inside. If the cabinet is 36" overall, a narrower fridge would be necessary...There are quite a few choices, I think, at about 33". Ovens usually fit in 28 1/2" of space inside a cabinet. If framed this often means they need a 33" to get a large enough opening. You can usually have a 30" cabinet if it is frameless. If it's a type that offers a flush installation, a wider cabinet can be required for that. Putting them right next to each other can cause problems with the fridge door hitting the oven door handle, so how much room in between you might need can depend on the models you choose and their handle styles....See MoreRefrigerator and Wall Oven too close? Comments (8)pbadss and LRy511 please follow up about your door swing situation. I too have ordere the KA french door (counter depth) and an Electrolux wall oven which will be right next to it on the right. I'll be ordering cabinets soon, have already bought appliances. Now I'm nervous about the oven door dinging the fridge and having a hot oven next to the fridge, which my KA put in the design...See Morerefrigerator/oven/cooktop all on same wall?
Comments (4)I'd leave it where it is ... if you put it at the bottom of the run at the left you lose a lot of handy workspace to the left of the range. AND you will have traffic between island and range, heading for the frig. Where it is, you can get a cold drink or ice without getting in the cook's way, and there's plenty of space to the right of the frig and on the counter for placing things going into the frig after shopping....See Morenhbaskets
