Would someone please confirm my thought process?

I have a 10.5 year old dual split Rheem system. Recently found a leak in the upstairs unit's coil (2.5 ton Criteria II). The replacement coil would be $800 and most likely another $150 for a switch on the compressor.

Got quotes on two Lennox and two Rheem systems (92 or 94 AFUE and 13 or 14 SEER) that, depending on the system runs from $6,600 to $7,700 with new line install to cover the change from R22 to R410, new thermostat, 1 year maintenance and 12 months SAC. Warranty is 5 parts and labor 10 compressor on the bottom and straight 10 on the top system.

As much as I hate shelling out the extra $5-6K on a completely new unit, replacing the coil on this unit seems to me to be asking for problems down the road with a furnace or compressor issue.

Finally, I know there are fans of both Lennox and Rheem, but if you have any comments throw them my way.

Thanks,
