I would recommend going throught the attic as a last resort. Ours vents on our steep roof and maintainence is a nightmare!!!! We have to call someone to come out to clean our vent line since the roof is such a steep pitch. We've had trouble with the flaps sticking up and birds getting in the vent line = ewww! = maintenaince call. Put chicken wire over vent to prevent birds = clogged vent = wet clothes = another maintenaince call. This is our current status. This has just been our experience. I'm sure (I hope) there are others that have sucessfully vented through roof. The fans you mention I believe are for those that have a longer vent run and need the extra push to get the air out. Depending on your attic height you may or may not need one. We didn't. Another option is what davey3000 has, a condensing dryer. They do not vent outside and the moisture from cloths collects in a pan or can set up to drain into a floor drain. These appear to be a bit less efficent energy wise but are gentler on clothing. Bosch makes a nice condensing dryer. Good luck in the final stage of your house!! Anyway my 2cents worth.

whistle Hi I take it you have the matching Oasis HE washer?? The one with the impeller instead of the agitator?? If you are thinking of going to the Oasis with agitator I can give you some help. I had the Cabrio without agitator(sister to Cabrio) for 6 LONG months. I was totally disappointed in the machine as a whole (poor cleaning, twisted clothing, perma wrinkles) My only choice from Whirlpool was to exchange for another Cabrio. I decided on the Cabrio with agitator. I am pleased. It cleans well. It spins things out nicely. It does not wrinkle or twist. It is HUGE. I was leery as people reported things getting caught under the flexible agitator fins. It has never happened to us. I do all delicates in a lingerie bag. But we do track pants and hoodies with strings on them and they have never been tangled. Hope this helps you in some way. I can't share any opinion on Speed Queens as I've never owned one and we don't have them in Canada. :( But they sure have many proud owners on this forum.

My first Oasis dryer #77082 worked for 17 days until the F44 code appeared. The repairman said there was a loose connection which he fixed. The next day the timer jumped from 40 minutes down to 16 and stayed there. The next load jumped from 40 minutes to 29 and stayed there. The next load jumped back and forth from 40 to 39 and back to 40 and then stayed at 6 minutes. The repairman came back and replaced the motor control board. The next day it was back to sticking at 6 minutes and 10 minutes and never turning off. Called the salesman and told him this was a hazard. He delivered the second machine two days later. The new machine broke the first time I used it the following day. Same timing issues. I called the salesman and had my third dryer delivered yesterday and haven't tried it yet. The thing is it has a chip out of the finish where the door closes. Called the salesman and he wants me to make sure the dryer works and maybe he can make a financial arrangement to have me keep it if it works and have the chip repaired. I love the idea of this machine, but when do I say enough? I have until 12-2-06 to return to Sears.

I think that the Oasis actually has two motors, one to rotate the drum, and another to run the air blower. You might be hearing the seperate blower motor. Other dryers don't generally have a seperate blower motor, so the Oasis is going to sound a little different. Another possible source of noise are indentations on the rubber drum rollers. These can occur if the dryer has been left standing for a long period, or if it's new. They should actually go away as the dryer heats up.
