Hybrid means a cooktop or stove that has both conventional (ribbon or radiant) burners (Think of them as hidden coils) and also has induction burners. I have the Icon Induction cooktop and to set a temp, you have a choice of 1 to 9 or P (Boost). You touch the up arrow to increase the temp (1 to a 4 or whatever) and touch the down arrow to decrease temp. You dont touch any other buttons--we find that easy and not "Rocket Science" They just came out with a new one that has "Smart Control" It is not released yet, and the picture and the description of the new "Smart Control" are not all that helpful. The controls do look like small circles It will be interesting to see how they work. More than likely, these new "Smart Controls" will end up on their Induction ranges---time will tell. Gary

This combined with the other complaints about the Electrolux washers is what I am talking about. The bad things I have read about Miele: 1. In their normal cycle they do not turn on the heater to meet the energy efficiency guidelines(although there are 17 other programs to choose from...) 2. When the machine was first released the latch on the washer would "sag" over time. A fix was released for this. 3. There is a firmware upgrade for the dryer that Miele has released I would say the same standard does apply. I own an Electrolux oven(love it!) and an induction top (don't really love it...bad bad bad design)...also own a panasonic MW, Kitchenaid fridge...thus, I'm not brand loyal but the Miele is in another class IMHO, although their price is as well...

I like the clear glass better. Why? those are some expensive machines you got, so show them off! You would beleive the attention I got with my Kenmore HE3T set! When I replaced them, I wanted the Electrolux models, but my partner wanted a HE TL more than I did, so I found one. I too like the fact that the machines doors on the washer and dyer can be reversed...too bad Meile doesnt offer this for the price they charge for their stuff, no pun meant my that Miele lovers (Larsi) but a spade is a spade..LOL

I absolutely LOVED my Electrolux induction range. My friend was so impressed with this stove that she bought her own (a slide-in) about a year later. Last year, after 4 1/2 years of use, my stove died ....there was a loud 'pop' after I'd boiled a kettle, then the control panel went blank. Absolutely no power. The oven still worked, though. The next morning, I thought I'd just try to turn it on and....magically, IT WORKED!! It continued to work for 2 days....I thought it was a miracle. But then while I had the large burner on, there was a HUGE 'bang', along with some some out of the back, the panel went black, then flashed an error code. My induction top was now definitely, without a doubt, officially dead and I discovered that the part to fix it cost $700 and the labour at least another $700 (CDN). Our 4 year extended warranty no longer covered it. We ended up buying a new stove (kenmore elite induction, plus an extended warranty...through Sears outlet for a little less than what it would have cost us to fix the Electrolux). The kenmore is ok. The induction burners work like the Electrolux, but I really preferred almost everything about the Electrolux to the kenmore...except for the fact that it died after a crazy short time of owning it! For that reason alone, I would never buy another Electrolux, no matter how much I might want to. Earlier I had read about similar consumer complaints, but I thought that they were probably aberrations, or the odd lemon...but I don't think that is the case........ Last week my friend called to tell me that her Electrolux induction top had also just died!! Luckily for her, though, they bought an extended 5 year warranty and are covered. I do NOT recommend this stove...range or slide-in....and offer my stories as a warning to others. Go ahead and buy it if you have lots of money, can afford the extended warranty, and can still afford to spend $1500 for repairs or more if you need to replace the unit!
