Loving My Newly Organized Closet
Comments (13)Red Lover (love your name). I changed jobs & schedules about 18 months ago allowing me what I consider a normal schedule. I was able to get into an good exercise routine (1 hour Mon-Fri) and cut down on so much eating. I vowed to lose it nice, slow and steady. If I had a treat, I'd have a bite or two. I lost the 1st 50# over about 10 months. Loving summer fruits, I decided to just maintain. I'm getting back into loosing my final 15#. I'm now working out during my breaks at work for 45 minutes over the day, and cutting down to around 1200 calories. I'm guessing the rest should be off sometime around summer 2014. I'm down to a size 4. Before I said I was a one size stretch all. I would never buy form fitting clothes, so I truly don't know how large I had gotten. SJhockeyfan - for some reason I can't click on your link. I have problems at times though I didn't for Tuesday 2008. We've been using these kind of pant hangers for years when my DH had a ton of dress pants for work and I don't know why. I do know that though it takes up more vertical space, it takes up less horizontal space. I had placed a few pants to the side that were out of season, or weren't quite fitting and folded them over a hanger. I noticed them after I took these pics and replaced them. They seem to bunch up over a hanger and crowd other clothes. It works for us. Dedtired the ones on the right are so old, I really can't remember where I got them, I guessing Wally World (Walmart). They no longer carry that particular style but now sell the ones on the left. I want to get some more pant hangers like those to match. I think in part our closet looks tidy because of the uniformity of hangers. We've got a few oddball hangers left but most match. Tuesday_2008 - I didn't see those at the store. If we were to use that size, we'd have even more boxes yet (I don't know if I have 14 categories as it is), plus they are too small for the bins we have (not shown)....See Morermkitchen's Finished Classic White / Black / Marble Kitchen
Comments (72)nancy_east -- thanks for your nice words! How exciting about your kitchen -- this will be fun to watch develop! The widest walkway we have is 36 1/2" (countertop to countertop), with it going down to 34 1/2" where our apron front sink "jumps" out. From our cooktop to the widest point of the bowed island countertop is 35 3/4". The only times (or rather, areas) our aisles feel tight are when the dishwasher door is open and there's only 12" of clearance (between the open door and the island cabinetry). But so far, no barked shins! We're careful and aware. The other area is our refrigerator (which is 30" wide, all refrigerator so it's a wide door): when it's open the only one who can sidle by (and then it's just barely) is our two year-old. But neither of those conditions are permanent (meaning, the dishwasher is mostly closed and the refrigerator door is mostly closed as well). While 36" for an aisle isn't "ideal," for us it's working out fine. Our only alternative would've been to give up the island and that wasn't an option! We need the storage space. Your aisles will work out fine; if it there's an impediment in the 36" aisle (like a dishwasher), then you all will learn the same careful two-step we and many others have as well! Good luck with your kitchen-in-progress! (and whole house, too!)...See MoreWeek 53: Also known as Year 2- week 1
Comments (20)This year I hope to make some progress on the basement. I am waiting for the quote from the contractor regarding my bathroom. I think I'll email/call him today. That will be done by summer. I took out one of the fluorescent fixtures in the basement and the stupid junction box is on a joist perpendicular to the floor, so no way can I install a new fixture. I'm not moving a junction box! A guy at work can though, so I need to clean up down there a bit and I'll get him to come over and move it. There are two more down there, so I assume those are the same. I am just putting in inexpensive track lights from Ikea until we can get things going down there. For the immediate future, I need to get the basketball hoop set up so another guy from work can help me put that up. I need to replace the one we have, because it's broken, and this one we will mount higher. Yard work is never ending of course, but the weather has been less than pleasant for that on my days off. Days I work are beautiful of course. I'm still training for my 15k in Toronto in 3 weeks. Yikes! I think I'll be ready. I have no grand illusions of finishing in a great time. I just want to have fun. :)...See MoreCloset is turning my clothes yellow!
Comments (23)I am having this problem too! collars on white clothing turning yellow IN THE CLOSET. I recently moved to a new part of the country and a new house and am having this problem for the first time in my life, so it has to be the closet, not detergent (using same as always), not sweating in some different way, not laundering in any different way. It is the closet. There's no wood work in my closet except under the carpet, old wood flooring. I bought a Moso bag to hang in the closet (absorbs damp) but it didn't help. Once I've removed the yellow AGAIN which I've done before and it just comes back without my even having worn the clothing, i'll try storing them inside a garment bag or something. I'm DESPERATE. It's driving me nuts....See MorePamela Rice
