Stacking washer and dryers of different makes
Comments (24)I was able to stack non-compatible pairs or non-stackable pairs models of Samsung Washer and Dryer. The washer broke and we brought a new Samsung Washer WF42H5000. Older Samsung dryer model is DV206AES/XAC. As per Samsung the new washer WF42H5000 was stackable only to a relatively new dryer model DV42H5000EW/AC. But we were not happy to buy a new dryer as old dryer was working good. This is what we did: 1. New Samsung Washer WF42H5000 will be at the surface. Stacked the old dryer on top of it. 2. Used old (which was already existing in the previous set-up) stacking kit. I don't know its name. 3. The handy man bored/drilled new slots in the behind of the washer so that the steel bracket from dryer correctly fitted to the new washer slots. That's it, we were done. 4. The washer runs without any problem, no vibration. It runs normal. 5. The main problem which we foresaw was how the steel brackets will come into correct slot but that was achieved by the handy man as he bored/drilled suitable slots to the new washer to fit the steel brackets from dryer. Please make sure that both washer and dryer are of same width, in most cases it will be same, say 27 inches....See MoreWasher/dryer ventless stack: Must substitute for Miele
Comments (1)I bought a Miele 3035 (stainless) and vented dryer last year (funny they are still selling 3033 that as it was discontinued in favor of the 3037 which is the newer model.) Didn't go with Bosch as I was told that vented dryer was being discontinued. After my purchase, I read here that Miele was discontinuing their vented dryer -- may be that's the holdup? Between 2 houses I've had both pairs. Hard to go wrong with either. If you want a slightly larger capacity and don't care about very hot water or control then Bosch is a good choice. If you need high heat cycles, excellent control and superior cycles for things like woolens then with Miele....See MoreI just bought a samsung FL washer dryer-- it was a great deal!!!!
Comments (13)I bought the Samsung 328 two weeks ago, after my old Frigidaire FL constantly leaked after 8 years. I debated between the Miele 1203 and the Samsung. I come from Europe and I am used to small, efficient front loaders (that need a Phd to operate!). I decided on the Samsung because a local repair man told us that it was the brand they have the least problems/repairs with. I paid normal retail at Best Buy online($1200), it seems I never get the good deals :-( but I was very satisfied with purchase/delivery. The deciding factors were, that the Miele was almost twice the price and the warranty was only a year, and all the posts about the non issue of vibrations of the Samsung. And I can attest it is not an issue with this machine. We installed it ourselves on the second floor. The machine washes well enough for me. I have 4 soccer players in the family and it gets the dirt out. I wished the drum was a little smaller. I sort the laundry and wash a couple times a week and usually it is only half full. And a temperature chart relating to wash temperature would have been nice, too. Cold, warm and hot is just not very accurate. I don't know what difference the silvercare makes, but we have 3 air-o-swiss humidifier that use the Ag+, too. There it works wonders. I never have to clean them, no bacteria and other slimy stuff like in our old humidifiers. Now, if my Samsung washing machine lasts 10 years without any incident I am one happy customer. Another thing, the 328 doesn't have the filter to clean out. Neither did my Frigidaire and it was never an issue....See MoreAre stacked washers and dryers that bad?
Comments (24)Dan, still I would be cautious if you have children or pets around. I know Miele's are supposedly bullet proof, but things do happen with machines. When the spider arm in my Kenmore failed in 2011, that thing was vibrating and moving like mad until I shut it off. Had the dryer not been bolted to it, it would have gone crashing into the wall or to the floor, probably destroying it as well and doing damage to the room....See Morecaryscott
