Minimum depth for Miele washer & Dryer under counter with cabinet door
Comments (12)garyboun - I actually accomplished what I wanted and I love it. My washer /dryer are underneath my cabinets with pocket doors that open and slide back in. It required wider cabinets but I love that they are hidden when not in use. Since I used pocket doors, I had to go wider so each appliance has double pocket doors. Because the dryer is not vented it's important to keep doors open when using. It's great during the winter because it heats the room up. Let me clean up the laundry room a bit and I'll show you pics. In order to accomplish the planning of my cabinets, I did find a washer/dryer in a showroom and took pictures so that I could plan where to put my plugs and drain hoses. I have those pics as well if you want them. The only thing that is a bit tricky is that the detergent fill-bin is located at the top, so you will need to be careful about your countertop overhang. My total depth of the cabinets with the w/d is 27" including countertop. Cabinet depth is 26 1/2" so very minimal overhang. There's definitely room in the back for it to go back further but I wanted to play it safe. At minimum I think the cabinet depth would need to be 25" with doors that overlay on top versus inset. As far as leaving door open to dry out, it's also necessary to wipe down the rubber flange of excess water so mold doesn't set in. But I typically leave door open when I'm done with laundry on both w/d for a bit before closing them up for the day. These are in my back door entry so it's really nice to shut them away. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. Let me know if you have any questions and I will see if I can upload pictures tomorrow....See Morecounter top depth for Whirlpool duet washer dryer
Comments (1)You need to decide on the exact model and check the user manual or installation instructions for that model as it will tell you how deep the machine is and how much space has to be left behind it for the hoses and plugs and how far forward the countertop can come over the top of the machine without interfering with your ability to use the machine. Most of the newer washing machines are much taller than the normal counter height. I think that all of the duets exceed standard kitchen countertop height and depth....See MoreWasher and dryer that fit under a standard 36" counter
Comments (20)The issue with the Asko washer is the controller board. My machine never worked on certain cycles. They replaced it and the replacement machine didn't work on the same cycles. After 8 years of use in a weekend house the controller board broke and could not be replaced. Apart from that I liked the washer. I didn't care for the Asko dryer at all. It was vented. Everything came out constantly wrinkled. The Bosch non-vented dryer had a larger capacity and put the Asko to shame performance wise. One poster here, suburbanmd, bought one of the deluxe Asko sets and returned it due to function issues. Here is a link to the thread which details the problems. You can take/leave free advice, of course. I'm not going to use your machine so for me, it makes no difference which one you decide to buy. Folks make their decisions based on many factors. However, I do have experience as an owner of 3 of the 4 compact major sets. I wouldn't go go Asko again and don't recommend it. Miele is a far better washer & dryer. The Bosch washer doesn't have the true hot washes but the capacity is good and the condenser dryer is excellent. I have no experience with Electrolux compact machines so I cannot comment on those. However, that machine has a heater. And there are posters here who own the machines and like them. IOW other better choices....See MoreUnder Counter Washer/Dryer
Comments (13)Having recently sold my house I can tell you that comps don't consider the size of the washers and dryers. You have to remember that most of the people who post here know and care more than the average person about laundry appliances. Even appraisers are not that knowledgeable about these-they are more concerned with structural upgrades and the quality of building materials when they are doing an appraisal. I would recommend you do what is right for you-i.e. what will make you enjoy your home. Look for some used appliances that are similarly sized-you may find newer machines or even used Mieles that will fit in the space and meet your budget without resorting to remodeling the space....See Moreczechchick2
