I'm soooo jealous. I am going to DD's next week with cooler in hand so that I can go to TJ's. The four hour trip is too far to go often, but I keep a list running for when she comes home or when we go to see her.

I thought it was suppose to open in the Spring. I have been sitting here with TJ envy thinking you had been going weekly if not daily.

I'm in Florida. No TJ's in sight, except when we visit family in St. Louis. I'd rather it be never than often. TJ's isn't enough to make me go there. Our niece is the draw. She's grading from grad school in the summer or the fall. Dern, we'll have to go even though she doesn't want a party.

No TJs here either, in spite of my relatively constant email lobbying of the company. I go when I go to Elery's, but it's a 3 hour drive to Elery's and another hour to TJ's.

And no, I don't think I'll ever get one anywhere close, not even in Grand Rapids which is an hour away. So, I'm also envious.

Oh boy. I'm sitting here in Texas, jealous too! My TJ source is moving back to Houston in May and even he can only bring home non perishables. My last hurrah will be in May when we go to NY for graduation. Otherwise the closest one to me is either New Mexico or Georgia! LOL

Oh, I LOVE Trader Joe's in New Mexico and Arizona, where I can buy really good scotch, and other kinds of spirits. There was a big problem here before approving them to sell wine in Missouri. I'm certain that slowed them down, while the KC bureaucrats talked amongst themselves.

Annie, four hours was my drive to TJ's until they put one in Omaha and Des Moines. Not that either of those locations help me much, but that dropped the trip to three hours if I were ever going there.

Gosh, I just checked and I have one 20 minutes away and I've never been. We have so many gourmet type markets and only so much 'money' to buy that stuff that it easy to justify 'not' going because you may blow the budget with one trip....but I guess I better go see what the fuss is about and report back.

The latest trip revealed the plywood is gone, the windows are in, the shelves are going into place. There is sign that says it will open July 15!

I'm almost afraid to say this out loud, lest I curse it, but Texas is finally getting Trader Joe's!!! No word on exactly when but I can't WAIT!

Although when we had the "Gathering of Greyhounds" get together last month, we made a side trip to TJ's. So I'm good for a while.

May, Kewl! It seemed a long wait from the time they announced they were coming here to actual visible progress. I'm so happy for you! It won't be as long as it seems! (Of course I realize I can easily say that now that there's a sign announcing an opening date here.)

Cathy, your next trip should probably be to Kansas City...you know, when your TJ's stock gets low!

OMG May! That is great news! I've been around this forum for 10 years and have been jealous of all of you who regularly visit TJs. I guess we'd better hunt for all those "what should I buy at TJs" threads and start making our lists!

How's this for a slap in the face? TJ has a warehouse mere miles from my home but they DO NOT have any plans to open a store here! After repeated begging requests from the populace. It's almost enough to make me want to boycott them but why cut off my nose to spite my face? Currently, the closest store is about 1 hour away.

Years ago they said my region would never get a Starbucks or a Williams Sonoma and we did. So maybe someday TJ's will get with the program and open a store here. By then I'll probably be too old to cook.

HHireno, You are whining about TJ's being an hour away??? Shame on you! LOL I went 7 1/2 hours to for the grand opening in Atlanta. I use to stop at TJ's on Sepulveda Blvd. every month on the way to LAX airport and bring a shopping bag on board. Well, the days of carry on groceries are over.

May, I loved Central Market that you took me to and Pensey's so don't you be whining either!

I've got two within reasonable driving distance but I'm not excited about Joe's. Not much there I'd buy that I can't get elsewhere and I just don't see the attraction. Maybe I could put a stamp on them and mail them to someone? :)
