Do you make your own Demi-Glace?

And if so, is it worth it? I have a recipe I want to try which calls for it, and the process of making it looks very daunting. Is there a really big taste difference between home-made and store-bought? One of the local stores has a pre-made demi glace (Gold, I think), very expensive, but a lot easier. :o)
