Thank you Vique. It's a little daunting at first but I'll sort you all out eventually :-)

I second what Vique said. Welcome everyone. This is a nice place to come to. We try to be supportive of each other when someone needs the support and we do give gentle nudges when someone needs a little push. Thank goodness rude and bossy people are a rarity here. There are plenty of other forums where harshness and rude behavior are not only welcome, but are often encouraged. That's not to say we don't disagree sometimes, but we try to remember we are among friends when we do disagree, so don't let an occasional spat here discourage you from posting. After all we are all different peeps and there are a lot of differing opinions.
I hope yayagal and all other new posters will chime in often.
By the way yayagal, did you know we have another Yaya here?

I've noticed a lot of new names here too. Welcome everyone. Tell us a little about yourself.
I'm a widow for 9 years now. I have 4 grown daughters, and 10 grandkids ranging in age from 19 yrs old - 1 yr old.
I love Eastern Bluebirds, and flower gardening.

I too was a newbie about a year ago. I have found such great advice, new ideas, recipes and tips in several of the forums. Welcome to all newbies, and never feel you can't ask a question or make a contribution. We need you as much as you need us!

I haven't been here long either. It is a great
place and everyone is warm.

I have found there isn't the sharp criticism
like you will find on a lot of other boards.
Live and let live, I believe is their Motto. :)

I'm a newby of only a few weeks. Lovely spot! I'm Sue and I live in Chicagoland, hence my user name: ChiSue. DH and I are retired, nearing 70, lifelong Chicago suburbanites; one DS, DIL, GS almost four who live 25 minutes away in the city. (DIL teaches in the Chicago schools; you have to be a resident.) We're all 'onlies': DH, DS and me, so the 'family' here is most welcome!

Welcome everyone! I live about an hour from St. Louis with my DH of 21 years and our "onlie" DD who is now in college. 2 cats and a dog reside with us.

Welcome to you all...looking forward to meeting you all. I enjoy a wide variety of hobbies. Married with 4 grown kids and a grandson. We have 3 cats, 2 are new siamese.

I am not a new poster, used to be mtn. mornie now just mornie_nm. Glad to be here even if I only post very occasionally. Molly

Welcome to all! I was a newbie not that long ago; and though I don't post much, I am here every day just to see what's going on and perhaps be able to give a bit of advice..or just a cyber-hug if needed.

Nancy

Nice to "see" the new people....

Phyllis

I am sorta new. I stop by nearly every day but rarely post. This is a warm friendly place and I always feel happy I came when I sign out.

To those taking chemo treatments, my thoughts and prayers go out to you for a successful end. It is such a hard dease to treat, but you will win. Hugs to all.

I am also not new to Gardenweb, but haven't posted on KT a lot. I guess I felt that you were all such good, close friends that maybe I would be an outsider. I appreciate the welcome (and I know that others have welcomed "newbies" before, but I just never joined in). I recently lost my DH to lung cancer (Jul 21, 2008), but have five very loving and supportive children, 12 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. The holidays were bittersweet, being the first without my husband. We had been married 53 years, and I miss him terribly. I just recently posted here about my hearing loss, and am so grateful for the helpful responses. I am alone most of the time now and spend a lot of time at my computer. Thanks for the warm welcome. (I apologize for the long post, but it feels like the right time)!
Veta

Well this "newbie" is from Ma. and is retired, mother of three and three grands. I'm an artist. I love being in touch with others online since it's soo good for the soul. This is the best chicken soup. I only go to one chat room and night and now here. You'll be hearing from me lol.

This Newbie visits the KT almost daily, you're an inspiring, cheerful, warm-hearted group of people. It's lovely to see how you reach out to help each other in "cyberspace". Yayagal is right..........this is the best chicken soup.

Me, my DH and 4 cats live in Ont. Cda. I love gardening and making things...artsy trash to treasure stuff. I'm not great at posting but I do like reading your posts. My thoughts and prayers have gone out to many of you as you deal with life's challenges.

I love seeing people post that haven't posted before or rarely post. I hope you all will become comfortable enough to post regularly. I used to go to the Garden Junk forum a few years ago under a different screen name, but had to give it up because of lack of time. I found this place because it was mentioned at GJ . We moved four years ago from 10 acres about 50 miles from work to less than an acre 11 miles from work. That freed up more time for me to play here. I retired last year and that has freed up even more time. I try to come here to read everyday. I post most days, but will miss occasionally.
I have a dh, an almost 43 year old dd, 2 step dd's and 2 stepsons, as well as my 12 year old niece whom we have legally adopted. I also have 10 grand kids and 3 sweet dogs. I live in north Mississippi.

(((((Veta ))))) I'm very sorry for your loss of your dear husband. I'm sure these past holidays have been hard on you. Thank goodness for loving family members to help you get through them.

To all who are hesitant to post because they feel like they may be intruding on a close group of friends. Yes, we are friends. Many of us have met in person and many have not, but except for the few who were here from day one, we are all newbies, but we have been welcomed to the table of friends. The good thing about this kitchen table is that it is endless. It goes on as far as you can see. There's always room for another chair. You can come here in the middle of the day or the middle of the night. You can dress up or you can dress down or even come nekkid, but we had really rather not know about that. LOL!!!! Just jump on in here and say hello and tell us a little about yourself.

Linda

I just found this forum today. I appreciate your kind welcome and will be back for more. I have four grown children-three girls and a boy. I have a 16 month old granddaughter. What a joy!
Mary

Veta I too am so sorry for your loss. DH and I have been married 43 years and retired now. We are never apart so I feel for the lonliness you are going through. I am sure your DH fought a valiant battle, bless him.
Jean

Veta, I'm so sorry to hear the loss of your husband. Grief is such an individual journey and I'm happy you've joined in this group as I can tell these are good people who care. May God keep you in His loving care as you go through this difficult time.

Thank you all for the kind words. I really appreciate having all of you as my friends now. I know my husband is in a better place now, but I miss him so much. I'm not having a "pity party", but it just helps to hear your words of encouragement. I can tell you a bit more now - since I was his sole caretaker, and he wanted to be at home till the end, I didn't really have time to properly look after my own health. Anyway, I finally got to a doctor, and after tests, was told that I needed immediate surgery to replace my aortic heart valve. That surgery was done on Oct. 31st, 2008. I am well on the way to complete recovery, and feel good, but was told that open heart surgery could cause depression. Since I was aware of that, I determined not to let it do that to me! Well, this is the last of my "negative stuff" to relate to you all, and again, thanks.
Veta
