Adopt-A-Newbie: Newbies sign up, Veterans pick 'em

Newbies (of whatever time frame) who haven't much to trade, or have nothing, and want a little help getting started......

Veterans (of whatever time frame) with seeds to share and want an alternative to setting up your own SABSE & BEEP offers......

Follow the link below & see what's happening over on the Round Robin forum! We get those Newbies in a list with a general gist of their garden interests, and Veterans pick someone to adopt who matches their zone & garden type. Newbie pays postage for the seeds in advance (and sometimes bubble envelope) and Veteran sends at least 12 packs of seeds.

Newbies can still respond to SABSE/BEAP offers elsewhere of course, but this is a centralized location that is "self-sorting" and allows Veterans to be generous with seeds to whatever kind of newbie they prefer to pick, and without doing all the extra organizing of posting individual SABSE/BEAP offers.

make sure you have things listed on your Want List (see link)
I can not find the link to add anything to my want list. Please help.

Hi melyra, I'm a newbie too and just got adopted, make sure you click on the link above "adopt a newbie ongoing list" and post there, that's how i got adopted, just a couple days ago. The link to add to your want list is at the very bottom of the page, click on "member pages" and when you get there, you will see a link to "edit your exhcange lists" click it and you will be able to.

I will transfer this list to a new thread since we are very close to the 150 post limit. I'll then post the link to that new thread at the bottom of this thread. Hmmmm...it seems that the site is not transferring the "zone + state in your zone box" to the 'posted by' line right away. It isn't just with Artax97, I'm seeing it now with many of the newbies. i'm a newbie to the forum, but not a newbie to gardening. i love what you are all doing here, so i signed up and even finally figured out how to post up my lists =) (note to other newbies, look for "member pages" link in green bar at very bottom of each page ) i would love to be adopted, in fact i already feel adopted =) by you all. nice site. i've been reading for hours. i have seeds to trade, but would still love to be adopted by someone if they have some seeds to spare, or just want to help me get some new plants. or if anyone would want some of the brassicas and other things i have -we could trade. http://members.gardenweb.com/members/exch/leilahamaya?27087 will look around some more...for trading posts =) Here is a link that might be useful: the lists of seeds i have/wanted for trade

hi falldaisies =) i am guessing this is directed at me, and you want me to change the blurb beside your name? its hard to fit too much info in there, if you would summarize some general wants ...or what you want you want the blurb to say- i can edit it. it is best if its short and sweet, just a general idea of what you want. right now yours says - falldaisies zone 6 (flowering bulbs, artichokes & blueberries dwarf fruit trees indoors/citrus) if theres something else you want me to write there, let me know, but lets keep it short. then have you figured out how to edit your "seeds wanted" list? thats the place for all the specifics. just list everything that you want there, then when someone goes to your page they can read all that. its good to have a nice long want list, so dont be shy about listing everything, often times people will look over it and might even surprise you with extras from your want list. GW is not very intuitive with its layout, but at the bottom of every page theres a large grey area with many links. click on "member pages" and then edit your exchange list...from that page you can edit all your info and fill out your have and want lists.

I am a housewife with two wonderful little boys! I am an avid gardener who has always relied on buying plants from a local greenhouse. I want to start growing my own and saving seeds to trade or help other newbies one day like me! I am will to send postage. Thanks and God Bless!

Hi Everyone!
I just joined GardenWeb and I love it so far. I am a newbie that would love to be adopted! Its very satisfying growing plants that can be eaten. I want to start an herb and vegetable garden. I cant wait to get to a point where I can adopt a newbie myself :)

iam a new-b.iam new to the garden web just getting a new start i had to move from were i lived and all my flowers were still in the ground so i left them now iam living in my sister inlaws house iam bying it i dont have to move no more or rent. so you know were iam at a new start...

I'm a re-born newbie! I used to be a regular many years ago and I loved it, got away from it for awhile but I'm back with 2 bare acres! I'm wanting to start a herb farm here, plus a friendship garden full of flowers from all over, to honor all the friends I've met online over the years! I'd love to join this group!

Hello! I will be signing up today! I am a newbie & have 10 acres to play with. I want to plant a garden for my family and plant flowers/bushes/trees on the property.

also since we have a lot of land to use, we are also going to do a community garden.

sweet potatoes, potatoes, onion,zucchini, watermelon, lettuce, broccoli,
cauliflower, anything else you can grow in a garden.

FLOWERS: heirloom & non heirloom: Tropical plants that can be grown indoors,
hibiscus-indoor & outdoor & various sizes,
carnations (all colors),
poppies (all colors),
peonies (pink, white, yellow, purple, any/all colors)
day lily ~ all colors & varieties,

FRUIT & TREES:
grape vines, raspberry,
blueberry, strawberry starts,
fruit tree starts: apple, peach, cherry, pear trees,
Flowering Dog Wood, anything tree that can grow in Indiana.

I'm a 32 year old single mother to a beautiful daughter named Alyssa. I have recently been getting heavily involved in Gardening. I most enjoy planting vegetables and exotic flowers :)
