I think it's a great idea. Depending on the date, I could make something and take it to work. If I'm working I think I'll give my goodies to the residents instead of the staff. They love homemade things.

Now do I make something new or something I've made before that I love.

You know I jumped on the opportunity to receive more of Ann's wonderful recipes, and now I have a good excuse to make one. So, we don't say what we choose to make until after we've made it and post about it? Hmmm, it'll be interesting to see what everyone picks, and if there's any repeats. This sounds like fun. I'm in!

This sounds like fun but if it falls during Passover, I'm not sure if I'll be able to participate. It would depend on finding a dessert that works for Pesach. So far, the Carmel Hazelnut Torte looks possible except I don't think I can get Kosher L'Pesach white chocolate here. There are a couple of others that are close but one ingredient will be a problem.

Thanks for saying that, CS, as I just realized that the weekend of the 26th is Orthodox Easter, too, so it would be the only weekend I can't do. I'm sure Passover affects more of us though...

Someone give me the dates that would interfer with passover, please. I'll try to schedule it around that for sure.

I'm working on a fundraising event for the next 4 weeks + Passover, but if I can fit it in, I will! I'm definitely going to try some of Ann's delectable goodies, but not sure quite when!

Nancy, I think that Passover actually spans the last two weekends in April, but I'll let someone more knowledgable than I speak up to what dates would be commonly observed. As for me, the in-laws' Easter is on Sunday the 27th, so that weekend is pretty much out of town for us.

I think what I will do is just get a head start:)In case I am not available..I am busy w/ family..work and an soon to be baby shower again..

Although I don't make too many desserts lately, this is a good reason to make something and join in the fun. Ann sent me the file earlier today and it's going to be darn hard to pick out one recipe from that list....they all sound and look wonderful!

DH pointed out something to me that I just didn't think of. There's no way our little camera or my skill level in photography can measure up to Ann's. This could get very embarrassing. (No, he wasn't insulting me, he was just pointing out the obvious.) The photos Ann took of her deserts are amazing and unsurpassable. Oh, well, it'll be fun trying, anyway.

Jessy, that looks good but my son and DIL are not coffee fans so the expresso flavored torte wouldn't work well for me. There are a number of other recipes in there that I think I could make work. I think the lemon custard cakes on page 114 would work with matzah cake meal substituted for the flour. Or the Mexican flan. The caramelized pears with tiramisu cream look really yummy except I have never seen Kosher L'Pesach rum and again I'd like to avoid coffee flavoring - I wonder how it would be with just vanilla or if there is some other flavor I could substitute.

(Cloud - I'm with you. My kids and I both prefer that a LOT of the coffee in that recipe be left out, maybe just a smidgen left to bring out the chocolate flavor. HA. Like that recipe needs it! AND I wish there was KFP Bourbon...wouldn't THAT be nice... also, be careful on your 'vanilla' since it is usually made with alcohol. I'm not THAT observant but some are!)

I can vouch for the Praline Cheesecake. My breakfast was the last piece of the one I made over the weekend. Yum...

The beauty of these virtual parties is that they are flexible. I know when I've participated, I've done it on a Sunday, since I work Saturdays. Other's have had to postpone a week or done it early. If we do it the weekend after passover, I'll probably wait a week, since at least my DH will be out of town, and I may be joining him. Or, I'll do mine early and save the pics for later. It would be the most fun to do it several times, just to get it just right! :-)

I just got my copy of Ann's book, and all I can say is wow. Count me in! Now the problem will be choosing just one.

Jessy, for Passover, I make homemade vanilla "extract" by putting a vanilla bean in a small jar of white wine and vanilla sugar by putting a vanilla bean or two in a small tub of sugar. I figure my vanilla extract isn't as potent as the real stuff so I use the vanilla sugar in place of some or all the sugar in the recipe plus the vanilla flavored wine for the vanilla extract.

Can I play too? Weekends are better for me.

Jessy, can a lapsed Lutheran make the fourless chocolate torte over Passover too? And why no alchohol over Passover?

Alcohol IS permitted on Passover (THANK god or I'd never make it through) - the source is what counts. No wheat or grains. Grapes and potatoes are OK! Whats made with potatoes? Pass it over! yuk yuk yuk

What alcohol's made with potatoes Jessy? Vodka can be made that way but it is also made from fermenting grains or beets. There are a handful made with potatoes but most are made from grain. I usually stick to wine for Pesach.

Peppi, Sure you can make the torte.
There aren't many types of distilled alcohol that one can be sure aren't made from grain. There is some slivovitz (plum brandy) but it isn't to my taste.

Yeah cloud I don't drink much so I also skip most of the wine/alcohols. That being said, I do miss my bourbon sweet potatoes at Passover. Hmmmmm. Rum and Tequila.... basis sugar cane and the agave plant? Probably can't find it certified KFP, though.

I would like to participate but I don't have the recipe book. I see people here are asking Ann for it but who is Ann and how do I ask her?
