Heard about it about 4 years ago....it didn't work, nor did the aromatic "mosquito plant".
Nothing works for me but DEET.

I bought a huge bottle of "garlic" spray that's supposed to keep mosquitoes at bay. I haven't tried it yet! Supposedly the garlic smell abates after a few hours, but the effect of keeping the buggies away lasts for a while.

I'm planning on a screenhouse, however! We really don't get that many mosquitoes, but we have enough that they can drive you back in the house when you'd rather be outside.

na, they taste more like ants - not the chocolate covered ones though. Dh disagrees, he says it all depends... if they've just had a meal, they taste like rare steak, use lots of A1 sauce

Barbecued mosquitoes taste more like Type O-negative. But, your wonderful Italian gravy should remedy that.

I boil Garlic in a Quart of water, let it cool, beat an egg into it and
you can screen it thru a piece Cheese Cloth, T shirt or underwear, LOL

Put it in a Spray Bottle.If you screen it thru underwear,

But if the Listerine doesn't work on the those buggers, dilute it and soap your feet in it...really..I know people who swear by it. Buy the cheaper store brands though..

Mosquitos are attracted to carbon dioxide (which living critters exhale).

One tip I've seen that seems to work is get some dry ice and, about an hour before your party, drop dry ice blocks away from your deck and guests.

The dry ice sublimates into carbon dioxide and attracts the skeeters.

From what I understand, some types of people attract mosquitoes from 30 yards away.
The mosquitoes will sense their presence and come in for dinner.
Years ago I tried to find out why I always attracted mosquitoes and my husband did not. And from what I recall science still does not know why some people do and some don't.
I may be way off base with my info though as this is all based on recollecting an article I read.
I do know nothing works for me except deet.

Nothing works for me except standing near my son who attracts them more strongly than I. If he's not around though, I'm usually the one others want to stand near.

Bumblebeez, Same here in reverse, they don't bother me. During summer months we will be chatting outside with neighbors. They all start slapping themselves and jumping around--visit is cut short because they all have to go inside and I am still into visiting.

Fabric softener sheets do not work and neither does Skin So Soft. I'm one of those who will get 90 bites while someone sitting near me may get get 5. Even Deet doesn't work because they bite where I can't put it such as on my eyelids and on my scalp under my hair. My solution - stay inside and it's the pits in the summer time.

Lou, it adds a peppery, bitter taste to food! If I don't have company (ie I look "laid back"!) then I close my eyes and spray my face too.

I am a mosquito magnet and my husband rarely gets bitten, could be because they've already feasted on me. However, one thing that has worked VERY well for me are those coil bracelets you can find in the fishing/sporting stuff at Walmart. I found my first ones at Bed Bath and Beyond several years ago and they lasted a long time. When I come inside and take mine off I put it in ziploc bag until I need it again. They come about 3 to a package,I believe.

I thought of a new way to cook them.
Put them on a needle an Marinate for 10 minutes.
Barbecue them and make Souvlaki.
If you can find a Pita that small.

Lou, your mosquito souvlaki sounds good, for light appetites anyway or for people on a diet. There are no pitas that small, but a cornflake might work.
