Can you see him when he comes? I would ask if he could do something about it. I know when the office mail lady comes, she has our mail bundled together and sometimes rubber-banded together. I don't know if she does this or it gets done before she picks it up.

My pet peeve is when I have a package too large for the box my delivery person will drive down the driveway (800 feet to the house) and leave the box in front of my door....along with all the mail...raining or not! The box I understand. The paper stuff??? She couldn't leave that in the mailbox where it would stay dry??? She had to drive right by it, twice.

It's true, he may not even be the one who's doing the folding, it might be the main facility when they sort the mail.

I might have to put a note in the box and ask him to tell "them" not to fold my magazines.

I hope I dont sound all petty - it just irks me to try to read a folded magazine, you have to fight it to turn the pages.

God I hope this is my biggest problem this year.

Well, for the ones that are already folded, try folding them in the opposite direction right on the crease, that should make it somewhat better. If you don't need to read it right away, you can put a very heavy book or two on top for a few days to flatten it back out. I find that my copy of "The Professional Chef" works great for this!

Great suggestions. Or to get his attention about the magnitude of this problem, crease a Playboy mag in a critical area and have DH show him how annoying it can be.

I take the mag. and fold it the opposite direction to "unbend" it and then open it up and and pull it hard over an edge of a table in the opposite direction of the fold and this will straighten it out about 80% or better.

You'll probably have more luck if you speak to the Postmaster at your local Post Office rather than directly to the carrier.

The Postmaster might even suggest to all the carriers that they not fold the mail, especially the magazines, unless its absolutely necessary to fit into a small mailbox or through a mail slot in a door.

At least you're getting your magazines. I've had so many copies of The Week and The New Yorker lost that I've had to get the companies to put a trace on each magazine.

I did call my postmaster....

He said that the "folded" mail is standard procedure which is done at the post office.... that way it is already to pop in the mailbox and save the postman time! get this THEY FOLDED MY PICTURES! I was not happy! If it is not stamped "do not fold" it is fair game. I told him from a consumers point of view whom spends tons of money on postage a year.... that it is totally unacceptable.

WHAT"S THE SINCE OF BUYING THAT LARGE MAILBOX IF YOUR POST OFFICE DOESN"T CARE ABOUT YOUR MAIL!

Well Stacy that's good to know that it's the post office doing it. That way I dont have to speak the mailman.

I know this is not a big deal but it happens with every single one of my magazines and it's one of those little irritants in life. In the grand scheme of things I know it's petty. And yes, at least I'm getting it.

I can see bending it and putting a rubberband around it but to HARD crease it just ruins it. I'll call the post office today and voice my complaint.

Truthfully though, I think in the future, I'd rather buy my magazines at the grocery store and have a flat magazine that will lay nice on my coffee table than get $$ off on a subscription and get it all mangled.

Maybe I should write the magazines and tell them to stamp DO NOT FOLD on their outer covering? Nah, they'd think I was an old woman with nothing better to do than complain about a folded magazine!! hahahaha!! I guess I am huh?

I talked to the Postmaster here about this.
She never heard of folding the mail and creasing it.
It may be a personal preferance of your Post Master. Which is not right.
They roll it hear and put it in the Box, so it won't be creased.
She gave me a number to call, to get info (1 800 ASK USPS )

I also never get folded magazines, although they will rubber band my mail together and that makes a "u" shaped magazine which flattens out as soon as I remove the rubber band. Of course, I've cancelled most of my subscriptions, I just go to the library and check them out, read them for free, LOL.

So, I don't think it's a post office regulation, just a local thing. I'd complain to your local post office.

I never get mags with a crease in them either. Just rounded enough to get them in the box which is fine. I think Deana had a great idea. Let him solve the problem for you because it is a man thing. They love thinking they have solved a problem for you!

Thanks LOU - yea maybe I was complaining about this a while back.

I will call that 800 number and make a complaint. Hey why not? They raised the rates again and never even asked me!
