I just found this site in doing some research on furnaces
and it seems just what I need. All this info tends to get confusing.
I live in the SF Bay area and have narrowed down my choice to the above 2 furnaces. The York is a fully modulating system with a vs blower and a 97.5% afue. The Trane is very
comparable but not fully modulating..has 2 stage heating.
I now realize I need to speak with both hvac cos and get more info on the type and model of thermostat they will use.
Price; Trane XV95 $4,695..York YP9C $4,917.Includes cost of cty permit, required pressure testing and sealing if necessary. If no sealing necessary (within 15%)York price is $4,617. Both cos well known with good reputation and been around long time.
County requires permit with pressure testing after install.
with leakage less then 15%.
Current system is a York high efficientcy 120btu with A/C installed when house built 22 years ago and never experienced any problems.NOT replacing A/C since rarely use due to climate and was told both Furnaces would be compatible.
Looking for comments/recommendations on these 2 systems as well as recommended thermostat.
