What a waste. Someone needs to give all of the idiots that drafted this a big glass of nitrogen-filled lake water to drink in a toast to their efforts. I have no doubts that nitrogen-infused lawns cause nitrate or nitrite levels to rise in drinking water. I frequently had to buy water for my son's formula when he was born as a result of agri-biz. Our municipality sends warnings to moms with children under 2 years of age when levels are deemed unsafe. They also distribute coupons for free bottled water for mixing formula. But seriously.....the way the article reads, it appears that Jersey is attempting to predict the future? I'm wondering what exactly the process will be for prosecuting homeowners for applying fertilizer before a heavy rainfall. Take pictures of every person who applies fertilzer every single time, and then they can be prosecuted if it happens to rain afterwards? How soon afterwards? An hour, a day, a week? Absurd. Or people can simply circumvent this by ripping out the grass, gardening the entire property, and applying 50 times as much fertilizer as they ever did to their lawn. But since it's not LAWN fertilizer, no biggie. Why don't they just try to legislate for people who are sloppy, stinky, or stupid? I think they'd have as much success in enforcing those subjective concepts as they would this piece of tripe.

If lived in your area, I would in a heart beat. I live in Mass and that would be quite a haul. But it is so good to see someone care so much for a plant as you. I am sure someone will step up to the plant in your area. Sh'e if that doesn't happen, you may have to call a local greenhouse and just give it to them. There must be a plant lover there right? Rain barrels out?! Baloney! As stated earlier, the water is going into the ground anyway. Does this mean you need to realign your downspouts so they flow onto walks and driveways so as to go into the street/gutter/stormsewer/river? Won't this be a great way to turn the home into an iceskating rink come snow time? What about the runoff detention ponds? Maybe your communities don't have these. Mine does because the storm sewer system is inadequate. The retention ponds hold parking lot runoff, allowing it to seep back into the ground. For those redesigning your landscape, go big on land recontouring to hold onto that water. I remember the 1950's Colo. drought where people had to buy the right to water their lawns. They paid a special fee and got a sign for their yard.

Sorry Frank, just seeing your question now. This is our 5th summer and still no issues or fading of liner. JC, best of luck with your build! You made the right decision in choosing SW as your builder. You basically just get to sit back and watch the magic. The self cleaning system is a must and you will never regret that expense... Can't wait to see the finished product...
