SIL in hospice

A couple of months ago I asked for prayers for my SIL who had colon cancer surgery in June, and doing well on his chemo, then more cancer was found. He was home and on chemo again, with some hope for recovery. The chemo caused a bowel perforation, so more surgery. He has been in the hospital for over a week, getting progressively weaker and in more pain. He will be having hospice there at the hospital, at his request....I think he's just too tired to be moved. Please keep him in your prayers and good thoughts, that he may have a peaceful passing, and please pray for DD, who is having a tough time. His two brothers-in-law, who are also his good friends, have been here this weekend, and it's been very hard on them, too, as well as all of the family and his friends.

You got it. Prayers are heading your way.. We have been there so many times and know just what all are going through. I pray for a peaceful passing for him and comfort for all his family and friends..

Thank you for all the kind words. I know that many of you have been through it before and are always so generous with your stories and thoughts. My husband and I are doing OK, it's hard to lose two beloved pets in a month, but we are happy for the time that we had together. And know they together again, curled up so it looked like one cat with two heads and tails like they used to be. Diva loved Cameron and vice versa. We had a smile about the personalities of the cats and how they each passed. Cameron was a sweetie, super laid back. She didn't let us know she was sick and waited until we were happily settled into our new house to quietly pass away at no inconvenience to us. While Diva was more of a ...well....diva. So of course she wants to make sure that she is in charge until the end. I loved both of those girls. I'll miss them. I am hugging my puppies extra tight tonight.

Beverly, I feel for your parents neighbors. This has to be so difficult for them. Possibly the organs could go to a university for just this reason. Didn't your MIL have a few tests recently? I talked to Wendy yesterday and she's feeling good. We also talked with Jonathan's wife and he's doing ok except for having headaches all the time and meds don't seem to help. We plan on going down to visit with them the end of February, the week-end after I get back from MN. I have a new request. My DD3's friend is a very private person and has told nobody (not even her parents) that she's doing radiation. She had surgery a couple weeks ago on her back and also throat. She told everyone that the biopsies came back ok, but now this. My DD found out only because my DD is also her boss and called her on time missed at work. DD is supposed to find out more this week as Sandie was not able to talk about it yet. I can't imagine not knowing if one of my girls was having to go thru this. Possibly the radiation is precautionary?????? Anyway, please keep her in your prayers. SharonG/FL

I know my posting doesn't matter to anyone, and that's ok. Just wanted to send you a hug and let you know, along with a lot of others, how sorry I am. I could have almost written your posting several years ago. Everything you wrote pretty much fit my DH. He was only 57 when we lost him. He was a workaholic and always put off going to the Dr., etc. When he was finally forced to go, it was too late. He did go through the Radiation, meds, etc., for almost 2 years before he left us. Please, everyone....please....get your DH, brothers, sons, male friends, etc., to have this Medical checkup. It is not just an old man's disease, like some seem to think, either. It is a curable type of cancer if caught early. Saying prayers for Jasdip and family for comfort and coping....and all who have gone through the beating that Cancer does to us. A couple of Widow/Widower sites help me a lot. They are out there, if you need them. They helped me to accept that it doesn't get better...but does get easier with time. Hugs.

I am so, so sorry. My Grandmother died of Colon
Cancer, and it is a terrible, humiliating and painful
disease.

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry to hear this, Phyllis. I will pray for his peaceful passing and for peace for his family. My dad died of the same many years ago but he was in his late 50's and we had a few years with him before he passed. I hope dd can find solace.

I'm saddened to hear this, Phyllis. I'll certainly keep all of you in my thoughts. My brother had colon cancer, a sister lung cancer & another breast cancer. I HATE, HATE, HATE that word!!! Please keep in touch with all of us.

My prayers to your SIL, DD and all family, friends. Life can be so hard sometimes and unfair. I don't know anyone that has not been touched by cancer. Horrid disease all round.

I;m so, so very sorry a cure wasn't meant to be. I Pray he has a painfree peaceful ending, and for all of you for strength for what you all have to endure. I agree with all that curse this horrible disease. Please, God, let a cure be found.

I'm so sorry. My mom was fortunate to be able to spend her last days in hospice at the hospital. A different company operates the hospice in the hospital. It was very peaceful and well-tended. I would have hated for her to have to be moved to a different location at that point and the atmosphere was much better than a regular hospital room.
