Birds eating crabapples this morning (pics)

I woke up to my crabapple tree covered in big, fat birds. Don't know what they are and some of the pictures aren't that great. I couldn't get a clear shot of them all in the tree together, they kept coming out blurred. I had to take the pictures through the sunroom windows otherwise they would have flown off:

There is a very large crab apple tree near where we walk. I saw some on the ground that had been opened and the seeds gone from the center. I was told by the nursery man that birds will eat the red berries on my washington hawthorne, but the don't. They cut the berries open and eat the seeds. They do the same to my bradford pear's fruit. They don't eat enough to make it worthwhile to plant for the birds.

You are a busy lady! Don't you feel disconnected when the computer isn't in operation.? I know I do! But maybe you were too busy to care. Is 31 up or down from other years? My you have a lot of birds and animals to report on. Guess the squirrels wouldn't be thriving in your area if there was nothing to eat, so it must be working for them. Do you blindfold the squirrels when you relocate so they cannot find their way back? (just kidding)

We just got rid of a raccoon after 3 weeks pilfering my garden and tearing up neighbor's roof looking for larvae from hornet's nests. Borrowed my brother's trap and it took 3 weeks before it finally went in the trap.....My son relocated it to another area quite a ways away near a river and orchard.....I guess they are all over our town now.....This is something new....didn't used to be raccoons anywhere right in town!! I first noticed that all our water bowls I have out for my bees and cats were tipped over and those that weren't were muddy with partial strawberries/blueberries, onions, garlic and you name it!!! I had a feeling it was a raccoon because we had problems with them when we lived in Oregon. I stayed up late enough one night to take a video of it on our porch!!

black ones are starlings. Hate those birds. Robins look happy tho!

Around here, the birds that will clean up the crabapples in one or 2 days usually are Cedar Waxwings come late winter. But this year all the apples that the deer couldn't reach were eaten by the birds in your pictures. A few robins and a huge flock of starlings cleaned them up in a matter of hours about a month ago.

The bird in pic #1 has the appearance of a young starling.
The bird in pic #3 appears to be a robin.

Robins already! Nice. Spring will be around the corner for you. I haven't seen any here yet. We have 3 crab apple trees and a pear tree and I swear the birds love them. I think this time of year, they get drunk off the bad fruit. LOL
