Q re: peninsula counter different material than other counters?

And the last question for me tonight is...

Would it look wierd to have a peninsula that is covered in a countertop material that is different from the other countertop surfaces in the kitchen? For example, black granite for the wall run of counters, with the peninsula jutting out from that run (in a 90 degree angle) done in a darker butcherblock wood, maybe mahogany?

Covering the ISLAND countertop in a different surface than the perimeter counters is done all the time, like marble island/granite perimeter, or granite perimeter/wood island but I can't recall seeing it done with a peninsula run.

Imagine the peninsula not as bi-level one, but one level on the same plane with the wall run granite or perhaps even slightly (one inch or less) higher.

Wood is just so nice to set plates on, eat off of, gather around, and is warmer (both literally and figuratively) than dark granite.

Hoping someone can post a photo if you have one of a similar scenario, as well, since that would really be helpful to me in determining what to do.

many thanks and good night!
