flax seed questions

Trying the healthy stuff these days; lately I have been using a small 1.5 qt slow cooker and making a porridge of steel cut oats for breakfast every morning.

Best mix I've had so far is 2/3 steel cut oats and 1/3 hull-less barley. Putting that in the slow cooker at night on low with 4x water, it's perfect in the morning.

Thinking about adding flax seed. My question: would overnight cooking the flax seed in the manner I just described soften it enough for digestion? I know raw flax seed isn't digestible and I really don't want to bother with grinding flax seed.
