Scrolls use more power than recips??

I'm looking at the Rated Load Amps of 3-ton, 13 SEER compressor motors for 3 mfrs of heat pumps. I'm doing this to figure the cost of running a new heat pump vs the cost of my old 21-year 7 SEER Trane.

Here's what I have:

- Goodman (recip): 12.2 amps

- Ducane (scroll): 16.4

- Rheem Classic: (Copeland scroll): 20.5 (ouch!)

- Rheem Corsaire (not sure): 13.5

- My old unit (recip): 22.2

The Goodman recip saves me (22.2 - 12.2)/22.2 = 45% in energy usage. The Ducane scroll saves 26%, Corsaire 39%, and Classic only 7% (something's gotta be wrong with the 20.5 RLA).

The above figures the same run time for all units since they produce/remove the same BTUs and are rated at 13 SEER.

I couldn't find RLA for Trane or Carrier.

It looks like the scrolls eat more power, but maybe I need to look at more units before I come to a conclusion.
