Undermount kitchen sink size question

Hello Group,

I had a question regarding the size of the kitchen sink and am hoping that somebody can point me in the right direction. See photo for the undersmount kitchen sink dimensions. The inside dimensions of the 36" base cabinet are: 34 3/4" (Length) and 24 3/4" (Depth).

We already have the sink, and checked to see if it would fit in the base cabinet. It fits, however our concern is whether there will be enough room for the faucet/soap dispenser. We will have granite countertops and there will be a bar counter right behind the sink/faucet having a tiled backspalsh.

The guy from the granite company is saying that this sink will not work for the size of the cabinet we have. His concern is that there would not be enough room for the faucet especially with a tiled backsplash and is recomending us to go with a smaller size sink. Is he correct?

Perhaps it has to do with one having a reveal (#1 above) and the other not (#2 above). That's the only thing I could see different that would affect how wide the flanges are. Take heed in AndreaK's review on the site for sink #2 on the waterspots. These satin finish sinks spot like crazy. We have 1 sink with a reveal with a satin finish and 1 without a reveal with a brushed finish in our kitchen. It is much easier to keep the non-reveal sink clean (no ledge for anything to cling to + no waterspots. Sink #2 is also a better quality sink based on the thicker gauge (18) and the chrome/nickel content ratio (18/10). Hope this helps!

Not advised to create a ledge. You physically can, but now you depend on silicon to keep things water tight. If you keep a zero reveal or an overhang, then water is less likely to accumulate on the sink flange (Which is used to create the ledge). The silicone then can stay intact longer, and not be needed as the primary water guard. Often the biggest problem we see with ledge sinks is with the installation. Some issues we have been told is with accessories not fitting. However, this is easily avoidable with two best practices: 1. The fabricator should always follow the template 2. Once the hole is cut for the sink, dry fit the accessories to ensure smooth sailing from the client. If you like ledge sinks then check this new release: Kraus Kore

I disagree with Joseph. A 30" cabinet is not 30" inside. A so-called 30" sink indeed need close to 30" to mount. It may not fit. Fortunately, Melody has a 27" sink, not a 30" one. It should fit no problem in her cabinet. If by "dishwasher outlet" you're talking about the receptacle for the dishwasher, as long as the plug will fit into it and you can reach it, it should be OK. If the plug itself is the disconnect, it's required to be visible to the guy working on the dishwasher, but a unplugged-plug is going to be pretty easy to see even if the receptacle itself isn't. The other thing to consider (since this was in the plumbing in addition to the electrical forum) is to make sure whatever disposal/tailpiece you're using will meet up with the drain line from the dishwasher.

A 30" sink will undermount in a 30" cabinet if the sink is strapped, not clipped, in place no matter what the sink manufacturer says.
