How do you serve a grapefruit? I cut it in half then go around each section with a curved grapefruit knife. Others use a grapefruit spoon to get the sections out. My mom peels it and then cuts out each section.

I love grapefruit and used to eat one every day--until I discovered they were increasing my muscle and joint pain. Had to give up oranges, too. :-(

I love them but Harry can't have them because they interfere with one of his meds. Aldi's has them for 25 cents each this week.

I am on Lipitor, so cannot eat grapefruit. I always loved them.

I love grapefruit. It was a special treat when I lived at home. Mom would buy pink grapefruits, cut them up the night before. We'd have grapefruit for breakfast. Tastes so clean. I like the juice, too.

I also take Lipitor. My doctor told me that I can eat grapefruit as long as I don't eat it every day and I don't eat it close to the time I take the Lipitor.

I love grapefruit and the juice, too. Always have, even as a little kid. We would go with my Dad on Saturdays to the Milwaukee YMCA where he played handball and he would always get each of us a nice glass of grapefruit juice as our treat.

I love grapefruit. I make a 9 x 13 plastic container of fruit salad about twice a week. Grapefruit....and like dedtired's mom, I supreme it. Then I peel and cut the oranges, apples, bananas and grapes. I have a bowl twice a day and DH has one every day. It takes me about an hour and a half to cut up the fruit, a real pain but sooooo good. I asked my doctor about the meds thing since I'm on Crestor and she said she's done a lot of reading on it and it's fine. I said that's good because I'm not giving up my grapefruit! In the summer we switch to a melon salad with strawberries, pineapple and grapes. It's good too, but much prefer the grapefruit.

When I was a child, long, long ago we often had grapefruit as a breakfast treat. At that time it was very sour. My mother would halve it the night before and sprinkle it with sugar. Next morning it was sweeter and we ate it with serrated grapefruit spoons. I've always liked grapefruit!

I love it and practically live on it in the winter. I just peel and eat like an orange. I couldn't believe it when I started taking a statin and they said no grapefruit. Did my own research on that and found that pravastatin does not have the grapefruit interaction so I told my doctor I wanted to switch. I think pravastatin may not be as effective as some other statins but so far my numbers are low enough though maybe not quite as low as with simvastatin.

I wish I did, but blech! :(

I love Red Grapefruit out of Texas.... sweet sweet sweet !! I too take a Statin, and my Cardiologist said I can eat grapefruit once a day as long as I don't take my statin within a few hours of eating it... He said just don't overdo it...
I am hoping we can order Texas Red through the Mennonites this year again....

I love grapefruit, but only the Rio Star Reds we get here in TX. Got spoiled on them and don't like "blonde" grapefruit any more. Hubby likes them too, but not as much as I do. :o)

Now I want grapefruit! LOL

I drink pink Grapefruit juice daily - don't eat the fruit, though it grows in almost all the yards around me, but love the juice!

Isn't that interesting about the statins and grapefruit and the different "opinions" about whether it's a problem or not? My doctor told me to talk to a pharmacist. I talked to the pharmacist at Target and she said - no grapefruit with statins. I specifically asked about pravastatin and she said no. Fortunately I work with a bunch of doctors and pharmacists and asked one of the PharmD's that I work with. He said that statin/grapefruit interaction is blown out of proportion; i.e. likely not a big deal as long as you don't overdo it. He is the one who confirmed for me that pravastatin has no possible interaction with grapefruit.

I think healthcare providers are so afraid of being sued that many just take the safest possible course of action. I'm glad to hear others have been given the go ahead for grapefruit and other statins - in case I have to switch back to something else. As it is I still limit myself to one per day or one glass of juice.

Well adding them to my list when I go to town! I have been wanting them so going to get some lovelovelove them!

I can hardly ever find yellow ones. All we seem to get are red and pink. I prefer yellow. When we do get them, they cost $1 each!

I like to peel them, then separate each segment and peel off the thin membrane then just eat the juicy bits. It's messy and a lot of work but I've always hated the "skin" on citrus segments!

I love them but had to stop them when I began watching my diet for inflammation contributors. I miss them.

I love the pink grapefruit. Just a note: if you are taking any kind of perscription meds. check with your pharmacist to see if the grapefruit juice interferes with the pills. I know my daughter had to stop all grapefruit because of the meds she was on.

OMG I love pink, red grapefruit any kind for that matter. I used to eat it daily until somebody told me if you take meds for blood pressure you shouldn't eat grapefruit..so I haven't had any for 5 years...bummer. I do miss it.

I dearly love the Texas pink and reds, love the pink juice. But alas I to got a stern talking to from my docs telling me no more. I sure hate that.

Back when I was in college I went on the grapefruit diet and lost weight so easily, and I enjoyed to boot.

DH and i both love it,but like a few others we can't have it as we're both on Lipitor,and we have a grapefruit tree that gives us lots of pink ones every year.We give them to friends and neighbors.

I love them! I used to only like the yellow ones, then I tried the red grapefruit and I like them better.

They're on sale for $1 each this week.
