Rice paper plant poison like gunnera?
Comments (4)Thanks for the advice, Nigella. I plan on sinking a metal garbage can into the ground, and leaving the rim sticking out about an inch. The bottom would be cut out of the garbage can for drainage and access to water. Do you think this would suffice for containment? I want just one large specimen plant out in the landscape, not a forest. Actually, I've found a source for the variety 'steroidal giant' which won't die back in my climate, and should get about 25 feet tall. I'm quite excited about it. Will just underground containment work, or should I keep the flowers snipped off the plant, too? Thanks for any info!...See MoreRecommendation for paper for Candy Wrappers??
Comments (10)Hi Wendy - If you want it to look like the shiny wrapper paper like real candy wrappers - you might try HP's brochure and flyer paper. It's 50 sheets for $12.99 (C6817A). It's shiny on both sides. They may make it shiney on one side as well and it might be cheaper still. You can make alot of candy wrapper from 50 sheets so the cost isn't really too bad. Comments (7)Steve...and all...Here's a something I found on the link Marciakm posted for the tutorial.... I like to use Great White 37lb imaging and photo paper for the wrappers which is found for under $10 at Walmart, $12 at Staples. At Walmart, it is NOT in the electronics section but near school supplies where the copy paper is set up. Copy paper, fancy borders, cardstock etc, labels, and other computer print supplies. DO NOT buy the 24 lb. It's awful for wrappers. The Great White 37# is 92 whiteness and gives the best photo and graphic results I've ever seen. -- Office Max and Office Depot also carry it and when I can't find it locally, I'll order $50 of something and have it delivered to my door. Since the nearest one is an hours drive one way, that works best for me time wise. Tiger...See MoreMore Fun With Rice Paper. (pics heavy, warning!)
Comments (8)Thanks everyone. Rice paper is great. It is a good way to use up all your leftovers in the fridge. Season the leftovers a little, wrap them in rice paper in an interesting way, everyone will feel that they are exotic gourmet treats. Annie, rice paper cooked or fried will not be slimy, no more so then ravioli. Cathy, try the brush-on water technique, may be that would make the rice paper easier to handle. dcarch...See Moresusytwo
