Many posts about using rice paper.

Some stuff I had made with rice paper.

I have good control of rice paper texture using a camel hair brush to brush on water, not dipping the paper in water or spray with water. I don't seem to have problems with paper sticking or not sticking.

Beef Pancakes

Deep fried rice paper and garden tomatoes.

Chicken "Dumplings"

Spring Rolls with Snow crab meat, on Squash and Black Rice

Your "dumplings" look delicious. To the point where I might have to go out for Japanese for lunch today and order gyoza.

The waffles look amazing, too! Never seen that technique with rice papers.

Looking good! That's a lot of babies. I checked out your link, and you're right, it is a really cute plant. As for how they'll do in sphag, it's only a temporary situation. I'd say don't keep the sphag too wet, and separate them out to their 'grown up' medium of choice when they get big enough. I don't know when that is, exactly, not being super familiar with the type, but I'm thinking you have a better idea of that than me. Mary, There does seem to be much confusion about these plants. Specially between the so called Rex and Steroidal Giant. I have included a link to Plant Delights web page where they sell both the regular and Steroidal Giant. Their pictures were the best I could find doing a Google search of the plants. You can see the difference there. The British plant boards talk alot about Rex and Steroidal Giant. Growingontheedge.net is one board that I lurk on with a lot of discussions and pictures about these plants. Check them out. I think you misunderstood me. I am not looking for rice paper WRAPPERS, I am looking for the TRAYS that are used to hold a single wrapper once it's been wet down and before one rolls them. Below is a picture of what I'm talking about. I want exactly this style, though other colors are acceptable. I am looking for an ONLINE source. I have gone to all the local asian groceries I can find and no one is carrying these or willing to order them for me. For those who haven't seen these before... You put a rice paper wrapper on each tray. The tray has small bumps on the bottom around the edge to make it sit up slightly from the tray beneath it. Then you wet down a bunch of wrappers at once. Then set a stack of several trays on a plate, bring them to the table with all the other fixin's and everyone gets to make their own special spring rolls with their favorite ingredients! I know this is a little esoteric compared to the usual topics here, yet I'm hopeful someone will be able to point me in the right direction to an online, retail vendor. Thanks again everyone. You will notice that my pictures are gone. The reason is that when someone views this thread, it occupies digital band width traffic from/to Photobucket, the WEB site where these pictures are stored. If there is a lot of viewing then the bandwidth traffic can exceed 10 GB, the allowance is used up for the month. This is temporary. I don't normally like anything made with rice paper/rice wrappers, they get too slimy. I never thought of deep frying them, though!

Cathy, you did better than I did. I wanted to go out for Japanese but didn't want to go alone and couldn't find a "date." (I need more SAHM friends, LOL. Don't tell DW I said that!) I ended up with potstickers at TGIF's. Kinda thick and doughy but it satisfied the craving.

Thanks everyone. Rice paper is great. It is a good way to use up all your leftovers in the fridge.

Season the leftovers a little, wrap them in rice paper in an interesting way, everyone will feel that they are exotic gourmet treats.

Annie, rice paper cooked or fried will not be slimy, no more so then ravioli.

Cathy, try the brush-on water technique, may be that would make the rice paper easier to handle.

Thanks DC, I will try the brush-on technique. I've really not had a problem with the bowl of warm water method but then I wasn't trying anything fancy, just plan spring roll wrap.

How would you cook rice paper other than frying? I've only had it as spring rolls, dipped into water to make it pliable and filled with vegetables/etc. They were slimy.

I have the same problem with rice noodles.
