Costume Jewelry...Online Source?

I love costume jewelry. With a passion! I live it, breathe it, pile it up everywhere. Do any of you have any on-line sources for inexpensive costume jewelry?

I do frequent flea markets, yard sales etc... but I'm looking for an 'armchair' source now.

Etsy!! You could get lost for hours browsing jewelry there. www.etsy.com

I have also found interesting better-quality costume jewelry at Bloomies and Nordstrom web sites.

Well, the old blonde here forgot she'd recently recieved her Fire Mtn bead catalog in the mail. Looked up the 4 and 6 mm Swarovski bi-cone beads, they are the most sparkly in my opinion. You can get packs in different sizes but just for example, the 4mm in a pack of 48 is $2.25 for up to 14 packs. If you order more, the price goes down. The 6mm come in packs of 24 and they are for $2.42 each pack for up to 14 packs. The minimum shipping is $6.70. Otherwise it's approximately 10% of the order's cost. Hope this helps. Hi Mary, I'd be more than happy to share my Mandarin Orange Cake recipe! Mandarin Orange Cake 2 cups flour 2 cups sugar 2 eggs 2 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. baking soda 2-11 oz. cans Mandarin oranges, undrained Frosting: 1-15 oz. can Mandarin oranges, undrained 1 pkg. dry instant vanilla pudding (1 small box) 1-8 oz. container Cool Whip Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and baking soda. Add eggs and vanilla; mix until well blended. Stir in 2-11 oz. cans Mandarin oranges with the juice. Pour batter into a greased and lightly floured 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Bake for 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Frosting: Blend together 1-15 oz. can Mandarin oranges with juice, 1 package instant vanilla pudding, and 1-8 oz. container Cool Whip. Chill for 2 minutes (or longer) until mixture has set a little. Spread on cooled cake. Mom got a stand/upright mixer some time ago (a year or so ago) from Ginny's and it's been a big help in doing cakes, cookies, and other desserts! And I don't act at the theatre, I'm more behind the scenes helping clean and put up sets on the workdays. Not sure when I'll be learning to drive, but maybe it'll be sooner than later. Can you iron 'fake leather' (vinyl)?

I sure wouldn't put an iron on the 'right' side of the vinyl. Make a form to put inside, maybe of bendable cardboard, to fit as closely to shape as possible. Then put it in the sun, if you have any, or near a heat source, like a furnace or radiator.

It depends on what you're looking for. I'm not into the fake stones, etc. but LOVE unique necklaces. I second the suggestion of Etsy. I've bought some great pieces off there and you'll find one-of-a-kind items.

I collect vintage jewellery (just the fun stuff ...) and I add my vote to check out Etsy.

Anthropologie, Buckle, Overstock, Fossil are a few I like.
I tend to shop by brands the most and check ebay for specific brands.
Lucky Brand and Barse are favorites.

I'd love to buy some vintage costume jewelry that is collectible but I have no idea where to start (like which name brands are considered desirable/collectible). I don't want to get taken but just haven't found much information on costume jewelry.

I wish I could show you what I have....my grandmother's and my mother's costume jewelry from the 1930s through the 70's! Might cause your hearts to stop, and I don't ever use it. None of it is signed, so I doubt it's worth much, but it's beautiful stuff.

My dtr is coming home today, maybe I'll ask her to teach me how to post photos.

A friend of mine makes beaded jewelry. She's been a member of GW for years. I met her on the wedding forum back when hub & I were getting married. She also sells daylilies.

Oh Shermann! I'm swooning just thinking of it!!!!!

The pt bookeeper at one of my first jobs out of HS was a retired elderly lady and she gave me all of her costume rhinestone jewelry becuase I was always going to Marine Corps Balls. Her granddaughters were never interested in it. Nearly 20 yrs. later I wore some of it for my wedding (in fact I was wearing a piece when I met then soon to be DH at a ball!).

I love pave settings and found a fantastical pave necklace at a flea market for one ball. The guys booth was never open and Sunday after Sunday my mom would go w/ me to see if we could get the necklace.

Nothing I have is collector worthy (or I just don't know it) but I love it.

Years after after my grandmother died I commented to one of my female cousins on her gorgeous necklaces. I asked her where she got them and she said that they were our Nana's and she had gone through all of her jewelry when she died. Nobody had ever mentioned to me that they were going through her stuff. I was heartbroken! I spent alot of time living w/ my Nana when I was little and the only grandchild.

I love Etsy - have bought quite a few jewelry items. The hand-made beads, wire work, etc. is so special and different from store bought. And lots of times the packaging is a treat too! Usually a very inexpensive and simple way to 'gift myself' every now and then.

I love, love, LOVE costume jewelry~~Sherman can we see, pretty please?? I have a few vintage pieces, but they're more delicate and I seem to like bold pieces even though i'm only 5'2", 110 lbs!! At the moment it's bracelets, not one at a time but several, big and small all worn together. I buy a lot from Steinmart, Kohl's, and a couple of local stores with good variety and great prices. As for vintage pieces, the antique mall where I have a space is the ultimate for vintage/antique jewelry. Check out your antique stores since they're always having sales for different occasions, and might be having one for Labor Day. If not on sale, ask if the vendor can 'do better' or what the lowest price would be~don't be shy. You never know how long he/she has had the item, and would be more than willing to jump at the chance and sell it. ;o)

I keep the vintage things in a separate box, with current jewelry separated~~earrings in one box, bracelets another, etc. Seems to be easier when making choices on what to wear. ;o)
