The Green House is very simple to build, if you have some simple construction knowledge and tools. I will give you some basic ideas on how I did it. First of all, I build two. One with PVC pipe and the other one with Wire Cattle Panels. The PVC Pipe one goes like this. It is 12 by 18. It can be larger, next year plans are in the work for a 12 by 40+. I experience alot of wind, so I made it stronger than needed. First I made a 12 x 18 box out of 1 x 6. Then I dug 4 holes in the corners for a 2.5 foot 4 x 4 post. Then screwed the box to the posts. Then cut 1.5 inch PVC pipe cut 6 inches long every 4 feet on each side. Next take a 1 inch pvc pipe that is 20 feet long and bend it into a hoop. I stress buying 20 foot lengths. I tried to glue 2 tens together and it was just a pain. Two people are nice, but one person can do it. Drill two holes through the pipe and 1.5 inch pipe and attach the hoops to the box with long screws. Optional part, I ran a 3/4 inch pipe down the middle and bolted it to the hoops. It made it very rigid. On the ends is the tricky part. They can be done many ways. I framed up a couple rectangles and mounted some old storm windows that I picked up for free. Then made the door out of a scrap piece of chipboard. Prior to attaching the doors and window, the plastic needs to go one. I used a 6 mil piece that was 20 by 25. It was not fancy greenhouse plastic, just the stuff in a hardware store. 6 mil is the best, I wouldn't go for 4 mil, waste of time. I attached one side of the plastic to the outside of the box with staples. Then sandwiched it on to the side of the box with a 1 by 4. The boards ran the whole length of the building. Pull the plastic over the hoops and pull it tight too, then sandwiched it. Then pull the ends around and wrap them through the window rectangles and sandwiched the windows on and put 1x4 sandwiched on the bottom. I attached two short ropes over the outside of the plastic and attached to the sides of the box, this stopped the "Balloon Affect". Watch the temps, it can get very hot in the sun. One day it was 45 outside and windy. It was 90 plus at 10:00 in the morning. If the plastic rips, fix it with clear duct tape or clear packing tape. Attach it to both sides, if you can. I had a rip in a 45 mile wind storm. I was able to tape it back togther and it held great! The smaller one is the same process. Made a box, set posts, bend cattle panels over, attach to the box (on the inside), put black pipe insulation over the ends of the panels to avoid ripping the plastic, cover with plastic, sandwich the sides, finish the ends and enjoy. A high tunnel can be made very easily. Google "High Tunnel" and you will find out some really good info. These two little building have survived alot. Two tornadoes, 4 hailstorms, 2 weeks fo 30+ mph wind, 5 inches of rain (in 1.5 hours), 50-65 mph winds. I think they are the greatest things ever!

Marlene, your kitchen looked warm and cozy before, but what a wonderful transformation. You added so much more counterspace--you can never have too much of that! And now you have the perfect "work triangle" with the sink stove and fridge too--bet it feels lots more efficient. Love the rope trim and those pretty tiles you chose. Your husband did an amazing job on the cabinets and that hutch! He is obviously very talented. I can't imagine trying to cut that hutch down like that! Have to ask what kind of saw he used--just curious, I'll never tackle a project that big for sure! LOL You have the perfect dishes to display in your pretty hutch, looks like something from a magazine. And you are getting wood floors too--it's all looking just wonderful and those will be the icing on the cake. The big chick--adds a special unexpected "flair". ;o) Luvs

That puppy! Nothing shows joy in life better than a kitten, a puppy or a toddler. So sweet and what lovely chocolate! a2gemini, I have a yellow epimedium. I used to have a lovely red, but it didn't survive. I'd still love to find it again. It gets pretty big/wide, so plan accordingly. :) shicksal, keep plugging along. you'll be a shining star in the land of um, er, Not Modern! LOL I don't know where you live, but you're really going to have a fabulous house. Did the company come? Oh, my day. I went out at 8:00 am to get my new windshield. Why, when they say between 8 and 12, do we waste time getting there first thing? Well, at 10:30, he showed up and I have a perfect, brand new windshield. Safelite gave us a nice discount for not showing last week, so my $270 windshield was $209. Cool. Then my friend, who has been a pro painter for years and years, came over with her son. He's also a pro and has been painting with her since he was 15. That was 18 years ago. :) They whipped out the 1st coat, including the ceiling in about 2.5 hours, with breaks. My friend is a cancer survivor, so she tires easily. It's a big room; it would have taken me 2 days. My MBR is now an really gorgeous, soothing Glidden 'Natural Wicker' with the ceiling 50% lighter. Matched at SW. It's very subtle but I am shocked at what a difference paint makes on my lovely, finished drywall. They're returning in the morning to 2nd coat everything. That's all I did. I have to put in a toe kick heater, move the cable outlets, and actually install my the cabinets (vs. just stacking them). Then, shy of trim, I have one room finished. In my whole house. I can actually put things in the cabinets and get them off the counters and floors. I cannot imagine a clean, flat surface! Wow. To bed, I think, and tomorrow is another day! kaylaurus - I really didn't hate the look of the cabinets, the floor, and I didn't even mind the laminate (except where it was missing). As I looked at the progress on the cabinets today, there are areas that are really just a small swap and some that are a large swap. I worried that DH was picking cabinets that were too similar to the old ones when he was looking at a particular shade of maple. But honestly, the natural cherry is far closer to them than that maple would have been. And that's okay, because, I too, liked the wood. It was just SO. DARK. The only kitchen light you can't see in those before pics is another of those anemic squares. Why we didn't re-do the lighting years ago is still a mystery to me. And it was SO non-functional/wasteful. The U inside the peninsula area wasn't bad, but beyond the peninsula was a wasteland of junk. Always. There were too many reasons for it NOT to be. A cleaned off deck/patio/porch sounds great. I definitely should have done that so we'd have had it to use when we were living with all the cabinets in the living room. Terri - when you said 'a quick roll-over' I thought lint roller...which is what it would mean at my house. :) Obviously, something much more lasting than de-dog-hairing. TG - Awesome to hear about the laminate work. I had a roommate once who built an awesome desk. I always thought...I could do that! But I have never come close after that. Installer left a little while ago. He. was. awesome. I'm very impressed. And in the 'stuff I got done' part of things, besides switching the W/D (still haven't cancelled the ASKO, playing phone tag with that salesman) I also ordered my UCL from Environmental Lighting. It'll ship Monday, I'll have it Tuesday. I also talked to my granite guy (early enough in the day I thought we'd template Tues or Wed, but I texted him later and said it could be as early as Mon (hopefully he can do it Mon). And I talked to the guy I ordered the fridge, range, and vent hood from and talked about what I should look for spec wise from these guys (since I've had to watch them on some things) and asked about who does what part of the hood/venting/roof cutting. When we had our roof done in the spring, the roofer said to just let him know when we were getting the new kitchen and he'd come cut the roof so he knows it was done right, but I'll have to ask him if his guys do the ducting too. Good work Moni!! I can only imagine how excited you are for this grandbaby. My guess, it's so much more fun making a babies room because it's a labour of love.

I see you like bib overalls too. Mine wore out years ago, I sure miss them. Wonder if they make them in extra big and short? sigh.

Congrats grandma Moni. Maybe this summer I'll be down to see you and lots of baby pics too.

I really like it. I can see alot of hard work went into your daughter babys room. I admire you for doing the angles in the corners of the chair molding. I tried doing that, with a miter box and it ended up being a disaster.:( That is one Beautiful room!

Cute room but Moni, I have to say this just as a reminder- It is dangerous to use bumper pads and the fancy crib blankets/pillow in cribs. The beds look so cute made up but I am always so afraid that the babies will be left unattended with all of the soft stuff in there. I know, most of us at the KT had bumper pads and all in our cribs but they have found the soft stuff increases the risk of suffocation and simply removing it from the crib can reduce the risk (kind of an easy fix).

Okay, I feel better- I tend to post this whenever I see a fully decorated crib. I remember posting it when Grant was born, LOL.

OK, the baby is due in May, early May. We won't know, if boy or girl till we can see it. :)

We know about the cribs bumper pad. Did you notice, there isn't even a mattress yet? :)

We just wanted it to look nice for the pictures.

Now I have to get busy and sew some down under toys, and knit some too, as Donna was so nice and sent me a bunch of patterns.

The stripes were a pain in the "you know where"! The paint bled under the blue tape, and all stripes needed touching up. We thought we would want to paint the chair rail... but then thought it would be easier to do the real thing after all that touch up painting. NOT! The chair rail was quite a lot of work too. Lori and I cut them, Doug sanded, and we all painted. Doug marked the walls for height, and where the studs are. What a lot of work. But it's done now. :)

We just have date and time guesses going within the family at this time. I am not sure, if we want to do boy/girl, I think we just wish for healthy.

LOL Good job of hiding the "non-mattress". The bed is sooo cute. Once the little one is older, that crib quilt will be a valued friend.

It looks GREAT! I really like that wall haning on the mirror! You all did a fantastic job! The colors are nice and calming.

a little painting tip... After you place the tape on the wall, use the BASE color, and paint it over the edge of the tape... basically sealing the tap and the wall... let it dry and THEN paint your contrasting color.. it does help!

Kat's right, I've used that tip and it works great, especially on walls or items that have any texture to them, like orange peeled walls.
