Full StoryHave had four HVAC contractors make proposals, two Trane and two Lennox. The systems I'm looking at are:
1) Trane XV95 80K BTUH variable speed 2-stage 95% AFUE furnace + 3-ton XL15i AC unit.
2) Lennox G71MPP-036B-070 70K BTUH variable speed modulating 95% AFUE + 3-ton XC15 AC unit.
Both systems would run a Honeywell Vision Pro IAQ thermostat.
Things I like about the Lennox system are the modulating furnace and the super quiet AC unit.
For our downdraft system neither setup has super efficiencey on AC as both are in the 12.2 range for EER and 14.5 range for SEER. Don't think this would be a problem in our relatively mild climate.
Haven't gotten the latest quote on the Trane system with AC instead of HP, but I think it's going to come in less expensive than the Lennox quote, maybe significantly.
What do you think? Other brands to consider? We intend to be in our house for many years and want a high quality system.
