Question for the Grainlady.........

I made a loaf of white bread today. It turned out great, but it is just a little bit sweeter than I would like. The recipe: 1/4 cup sugar

1 tsp. salt

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1/2 cup hot water

1 pkg. yeast

1/2 cup warm water

3 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1 egg

The question is, can I cut back on the sugar or will it hurt my bread in anyway? Vique.
