difficulties finding colored grout on short notice

So we have to have a colored Laticrete unsanded grout by Wednesday. I spent most of yesterday and today all over the city looking for this (I am in NYC), but no one carries it in stock, and everyone says that it takes at least a week to "special order," even though it is one of the colors on the standard Laticrete color card. (We're using it with honed red travertine tile, so we have to go with a reddish/orange grout color, like cinnamon, copper beech, or quarry red - any of the standard other colors would just look funny with this tile.)

I then went online, figuring that it must be possible to get it online and just pay for faster shipping, but very few places seem to sell the Laticrete grout online, and those that do do not have any kind of expedited shipping option.

I don't know what to do - it never occurred to me that such a simple thing as grout would be so hard to come by, and we can't delay the grouting any more - the whole remodel and the bathroom in particular have been delayed by months beyond the original end date, and we have to move in on Friday and can't go weeks without a usable bathroom, and in addition, I'm due to give birth any day now, so we can't drag this renovation out any more.

Does anyone have any advice about how to get Laticrete colored unsanded grouts quickly? Any vendors that I could call on Monday and ask for 1 or 2 day shipping?

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Try the Polyblend grout at Home Depot in Nutmeg. It's a stock color and should be on the shelf. I used that on a project with a red travertine tile backsplash for a client and it turned out great.

BTW, it dries about two shades lighter than it's appearing on my monitor screen and that's about a half shade lighter than the in store actual grout samples show. Which is a good thing, because I thought it might be a little dark. But, it was the better choice between special ordering Quarry Red or going elsewhere and coming up empty as well.

If you want Laticrete give Floorlife a call. I used them several times and regular shipping was quite fast. Not as fast as you would need, but they don't dally with getting product out the door.

The top 10 list you suggested --does that mean 10 people you want to invite to a really nice restaurant?: At $30 a head, (and thats a low estimate) that would be $300 without alcohol. I know that for $500 I have done parties for 25 easily. I didn't read that your Dad wanted it at a hotel. We are entertaining 20 people tomorrow and planned it Wednesday. I just finished baking 24 cupcakes frosted 3 different ways. Took 45 minutes. Cooked pasta for pasta salad and partially prepared and refrigerated it. Tomorrow add sliced olives, celery, mayo & shrimp & parsley, green onions. Tomorrow morning make hamburger patties and buy buns. Add baked beans and deviled eggs. A couple people are bringing appetisers. It would not be that much work for 35 people--just add watermelon slices & fresh strawberries, and add a 3 bean salad. If Dad likes the fun of a party get a small keg of beer and let him be bartender. That will attract a crowd and make him be the center of attention. He could also mix Sangria instead and you can dilute that to whatever strength you like. Mine barely has any wine in it but lots of fruit juices and club soda. Use colorful plastic plates and cups. Somebody must have a back yard. I live by the beach near LA and nobody has smaller yards than we do. Many of my neighbors live on lots that are 30 x 90 and they manage to party often. It doesn't take money, but it does take time. We all work so its not like we have nothing else to do. My husband recently had a cardiac problem and he's younger than your Dad. but if he wanted a party, believe me I would arrange it. I would think your Mom ought to be able to arrange a lot of this stuff--she raised several kids during a time when McDonalds was not the primary food source.

You might have better blue selections as TXBluebonnet11 suggested, but in the Custom brand regular tile grout full sample deck, there is a dark blue grout that is more of a navy, called Admiral Blue, #92. Link below to their full color chart. This is available in sanded or unsanded grout with caulk to match I believe like their other 48 colors. The big box stores typically carry just the most popular and best selling colors so your color choices are limited there. The link below is their full brochure explaining the different grout types and choices and has the color chart at the end. It is way off for the blues (that typically have trouble reproducing the actual color in print). The Admiral blue from my grout sample deck is more navy and not almost black. And the Ocean Blue is more mid value grey blue and not a bright cobalt blue as the printed chart shows and the Artic Blue is a pale blue grey and not just pale grey as the chart shows. On their website, go to the "Where to Buy" or the "Distributors" tab to find where to buy in your area. The blues will most likely not be a stock color but they can order it. They should also have a sample deck or even just individual 'sticks' to give or sell to you so you can check a more accurate color with your tile. And their main number is 800.272.8786. Generally, online communities thrive with more participants, and decline when there start to be barriers to attracting or retaining newer users. New users are important because there is always an attrition rate of existing users. My concern with the excessive number of barely utilized forums is that they will serve as a barrier to retaining newer users. The people that show up looking for help or discussion, post in a mostly dead forum and get few to no responses, are unlikely to hang around, in my opinion. Condensing forums helps address this by concentrating active users into a smaller "area", making interaction with newer users more likely, and responses more plentiful. In addition, I think that spreading the current users out across so many sub forums may hasten the attrition rate in some cases, as people who are used to posting in only certain sub forums may stop participating as those forums become less active - even though there may be plenty of active users willing to engage on those topics in other, similar sub forums. The fact that posts show up on one main page is of little help, in my opinion. For me on mobile, my "main page" posts are only from forums I have chosen to follow - which means I don't see posts from any other forums unless I purposefully visit them. And even if your main page shows posts from a lot of different forums, less active forums are still likely to be overlooked as they quickly get buried by the activity in more active forums. For example, I added some of the rose forums to my list of followed forums, and now I miss threads in other, less active forums because the high number of new rose forum posts push those other threads pretty far down the page pretty quickly.

Happy Thanksgiving to all! Hope you are all safe and well fed today. We have our first real snow here. I am keeping close to home although I have to go check on my mom who mounted a holiday (against medical advice) escape from a rehab for mobility issues. We are having a Covid surge here so her choice isn’t entirely irrational. But not entirely rational either. I wanted to report grew my first crop of Cressida. I need to work on the technique a bit - uneven germination. The flavor is nice - both peppery and mustardy. Related to but not quite like watercress. I keep thinking it would be good on a post Thanksgiving turkey sandwich.

The home depot grout doesn't seem to be in stock here. If I really have trouble tracking down the Laticrete, I will try seeking out home depots farther afield to see if I can track it down.

Thanks also for the reassuring info about Floorlife - I had them down as a potential place to call tomorrow morning (they were closed on Fri for the holiday), so this gives me hope that they may be able to help me.

I'm sure Floorlife will have what you want in stock, if you can't find it anywhere else. If you are willing to pay the extra shipping they will get the product to you.

Just thought I'd update - I did manage to get what I needed overnighted from Floorlife. (Lowes in NYC doesn't carry that color in stock, and I was told 7-14 days to order it, unfortunately.) The bathroom has been grouted, and the color looks perfect with the tile we picked out, so all has ended well.
