flooring professionals - defective factory finish - what can I ex

I have over 700 sq. ft. of factory finished white oak in my kitchen/dining area. The guys noticed when installing that it scratched pretty easily - like with a fingernail. The owner of the shop said the rep comes through tomorrow so he will give him some wood. He will probably take it back to the factory in Canada so they can see what is wrong with it. This should take at least a week. The shop owner said that usually buffing with lambswool will help. Is this true? What could buffing do to harden the finish? The cabinets have been placed but not installed - thank goodness! They have to be taken back out until this is resolved.

What do you think I should accept?

Buffing?

A new floor?

Have them refinish it on site? With what?

I sure would appreciate some advice as I am clueless when it comes to floors. Thank you.
