I have been in a helicopter but it didn't leave the ground so that doesn't count. I would love to go up in a hot air balloon some day. Imagine the pictures you could take - wow!

I've ridden a helicopter that came to pick up my little bother who was in an accident. We flew to San Antonio and landed on top of the Santa Rosa Hospital.

A helicopter, yes. During a summer festival in my home town you could go up in a helicopter for $40. Several members of my family were going (sisters, nephews, brother-in-law, niece) and I was going to stay back and watch my sister's baby. But when we got to where the helicopter was taking off, the pilot said he had room for one more and would not charge me, so I went and my other sister looked after the baby. We flew over the lake, river and town, the pilot flew over our houses, it was pretty cool.

A hot air balloon, no, but I really want to. There are no hot air balloons in Newfoundland (too much wind and not enough flat places for landing). One day I will go up in one!

I have ridden in a helicopter 3 times. The first time was in the 60s before there was air service to Orange Co., CA. After I flex into LAX, I took a helicopter to Orange Co. airport. It as at Christmas and I could see all the lights and decorations.
About 5 years ago I had a chance to do a ride-along with a medical helicopter in the SF Bay Area. We transported two patients. A couple of years later I did another ride-along with them and we didn't get any calls that day so we just flew to a nearby lake and helped look for a person who drowned.

I've attended the balloon races in Reno. We watched them take off from our high rise hotel room at sunrise. It was a beautiful sight. I booked a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon, but my friend got sick and we had to leave. I'll do that someday. I'd like to ride in a helicopter.

I've been in a hot air balloon once. It was in the Napa Valley but unfortunately the weather detoured us to somewhere else in the valley and the views weren't near as pretty had we have been flying over the vineyards. But it was still an awesome experience. I'd love to do it again.

A helicoptor - I've ridden in one maybe 3 times, all in Hawaii. The views are spectacular. The last one I went on had no doors, that was pretty awesome because the views were so unobstructed.

No, don't like heights. GD is going to school to be a flight nurse. Friend gives hot air balloon rides ( very expensive) He started out with one but bought his second when his daughter went to school for it. You wouldn't believe all the hours and the things they have to learn to get license to do balloons.

Helicopter, yes. Didn't especially like it..felt like sitting in a swing. And this was one of those bubble-front jobs that REALLY feel like sitting on a very high swing!

I don't have any desire to go for a balloon ride, for the same reason. BTW, I didn't like swings much when I was a kid, either.

Got up VERY EARLY, took a beautiful ride with the sun rising, then a bumpy landing for a champagne breakfast.

And I once was a chaser, at a hot air balloon show. DS was riding in one, and he landed in local cemetary.

About 1958 our mission agency had bought a farm on the edge of a city in rural Korea and wanted to build a modified Western-style home for an agriculturalist who was to come to operate it as a demonstration farm. Most Korean farmers made their living on just under 3 acres of land.

We'd had trouble finding Korean builders to build houses in the ways that suited us in the cities, let alone in that rural area and made a deal with a U.S.-based company who was building for various U.S. agencies.

On one occasion a military helicopter (capacity about a dozen) brought some of them to our location and they took some of us up for a brief ride. There are mountains and hills through most of Korea but our area, but we could see some in the distance, and the East China Sea, between Korea and China, was a few miles away, to the west. There are over 20-foot tides there - which we enjoyed, with a sand beach that stretched out for about 1/8th of a mile when the tide went out, at the beach which mission agencies had leased, a few miles from there.

Unfortunately ... the builder "went broke" ... leaving sub-contractors holding the bag ... and, with walls up and roof on, with door and window frames in, they put a "stop-work" order on the house.

There it sat through most of the summer, looking like a skull, sitting up there on the hillside. We had to pay about one and a half times for that house!

We looked for alternative accomodation for the Findlay family, with four daughters aged 4 - 14 ... but couldn't find any. So, when they arrived in early September, we shoe-horned them into Ed's little 2-br. Japanese-style house, with the sliding, paper-covered doors and all ... with the little girl in a semi-crib in a small room just off the parent's room, while we settled the three older daughters on a built-in sofa and other beds in the living room.

I went to Japan to meet Sue in early Oct. (she said that had I not been there to meet her ... she'd have gone home to Mother), we travelled to Korea on a ship ... and were married in Seoul a week or so later. It took us three days to get married: you'd think that it would have stuck for more than 11 years!

Then she, too, was shoe-horned into that little Japanese-style home - we had an upstairs bedroom, and an office at one end of the house, to more or less call ours ... for about 3-1/2 months, till the Findlay's new home was finished.

In 1967, Canada's Centennial Year, when we had a World Expo in Montreal, Sue's Mom, a teacher/librarian, came up from Iowa in early June to attend with us, then returned to finish her M.A. course in Iowa City. When we went down in late summer to her grad., she took us and Sue's brother's family for a holiday to the Wisconsin Dells and one of the activities there was that we went for a helicopter ride over the town and the park. Unfortuately, Bruce, approaching 6 at the time, remembers little of it ... I don't remember whether Kathryn, closing in on 3, went: I think not.

No, I've never ridden in either a helicopter or a hot air balloon.

However, I have been a passenger in a glider plane. That was awesome!

I had a helicopter ride about 30 yrs ago. It was on a business trip. Two of us took an air-taxi from LAX (Los Angles) to a motel. It was much faster than a cab ride through LA traffic and about the same price. On that ride, we were at about 1000 ft altitide and could see a big fire in a building downtoen LA. That was the one and only time we did it. Six months later while working on the same project, the copter ride prices had incresed dramatically, and forces were at work under the guise of safety to stop air-taxi service out of LAX.

They may have had a point about safety. Our copter pilot was fresh from the Vietnam war and was a hot handler of his helicopter, and was trying to build an air-taxi business. When he was alone in the copter, on take-off from the airport, the copter would be in an arc at a 45 deg angle while clearing the fence by a few feet. He made a habit of swooping over the top of the termnal building. Why? This was a clear space free of air traffic and it allowed him to gain a little altitude and have a look toward his intended path before committing to it.

Flew in a helicopter once, in the Air Force in AZ. I was dressed up as an elf and was accompaning Santa for Santa's in Blue to give gifts to poor kids on an Indian reservation. It was scary, but then I hate to fly.

No hot air balloons, not sure I want to go up in one now either. I did when I was younger, though.
