Bake sale..good seller?

We're having a bake sale at church for a friend and I need ideas for a couple good items. Can you guys post some suggestions please.

Chocolate chip cookies, Brownies, Banana or any good quick breads. Just things that hold up well. Pies are good sometimes depending on area. People love good old homemade cinnamon rolls. Fresh yeast breads.
Just a few suggestions.

Caramel rolls are always a big hit. I sometimes take an oatmeal/pecan bread that sells quickly.

Last year I had a booth in a church parking lot in a rural area less than five miles from home for the first time. There were only five other vendors there. One sold only cantaloupe and watermelon at $4 each or two for $7. They did very well. The next sold homemade goat's milk soap and didn't do as well. The third sold jewelry that looked like mass produced, didn't do well at all. The next made all kinds of fruit breads in both the regular size and mini sized and had a very professional set up. She sold one heck of a lot, but I found out she was the manager of the bakery at our local apple orchard and made the comment that it smelled so good when "she put all of them in the truck earlier that day." She was referring to another "she" and I can't help but wonder if it was someone at the orchard making them. The next was a large booth that a local farmer had. Their family was very well known and their primary produce was some of the best fresh sweet corn. His second best seller was tomatoes. Third was green beans. He also had smaller amounts of onions, kohlrabi, cabbage and peppers. His customers were repeats from several years and he would pretty much sell out of a long truck bed of corn ever Friday evening between 4 and 7 which was the market hours. People were buying to can for the next year. My set up was small. I sold a variety of jams and preserves as well as picked beets, a milder salsa and corn relish in addition to 8"x8" cakes. The cakes and pickled beets were my top sellers although everything but the corn relish did well. This year I will sell pretty much the same but with pies and a lot more baked sweets and more individual potions of them. My biggest sellers at Farmers Market are (in order): Lemon Bars, Fudgey Brownies with and without walnuts, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Peanut Butter Cookies, slice of Marble Pound Cake with chocolate drizzle, Carrot Coconut Pineapple Pecan Muffins, slice of Frosted Cinnamon Raisin Bread, Toasted Coconut Macaroon with centered whole almond, baby Banana Bread loaves, White Chocolate Macadamia (or Cashew) Cookies. All of them are gluten free, some are also dairy free, and some are also egg free. It took a long time determining what people wanted - - what they don't want are cupcakes, candy by the piece (they want 4-6) for really cheap, hard biscotti, snickerdoodles, and slices of any flavor of regular cake. But, they also love the unusual offerings that are sugar free - - hummus with little pita chips, spinach quiche squares, dried apples, and cold gazpacho in a cup. Everything has to be easy to eat while walking around. Rarely do people take stuff home for later, unless, in my niche, they are celiac than they buy a whole plate of assorted for the week. Anyone use millet seeds in baking?

I posted this some time ago. This is just for comparison. It's a base recipe, and meant to be tinkered with. The result is a long rise no-knead loaf with a well risen close crumb. Here's what I used to make for daily bread, before I had to give up whole grains: 455 g total flour (100g rye, 200g whole red wheat, 155g whole white wheat)—use any combo, but make the majority bread flour or add Vital Wheat Gluten pinch vitamin C powder/crystals (for the whole grain, aids general dough conditioning and combats anti-nutrients) 25g Vital Wheat Gluten 2.5g ADY yeast 10-12g salt 425-455g water 100g mix-ins, seeds, grains, nuts, whatever (e.g., rolled oats, buckwheat, flaxseed, pepita sprouts, sunflower seeds, millet) Combine mix-ins with enough of the measured water to cover. In a separate bowl, combine the flours, VWG and the rest of the water. Let soak for at least 8 hours. Stir the yeast into the flour mixture. Add the salt to the mix-ins. Let sit in a gently warm place until the flour and yeast mixture starts bubbling a bunch. Mix in the mix-ins, kneading lightly. Move to an oiled bowl and let rise at least 1.5 times the volume. Shape loaf and let rise again, Bake at 385F for one hour.

You can't go wrong with anything chocolate..a chocolate cake or a coconut cake won't last long.

If you expect children "shopping" with their parents, you can't go wrong with Chex Muddy Buddies (aka puppy chow). Kids & teens seem to love this when we've had bake sales. Just look up the recipe on the Chex website then divvy up the batch into sandwich size ziplocs.

I made the Chex cheese mix for a cookie walk in December and it sold well. Qt bag w/5 cups for $2. Receipe is at Chex site.

How about cupcakes? Easy to eat and you don't have to buy a whole cake.

Peanut Butter Brownies with Chocolate Frosting. Yum!

Peanut Butter Brownies
1 cup peanut butter
2/3 cup margarine or butter
1 1/3 cup sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
4 eggs
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
Chocolate Frosting
Grease 9x13 pan. Mix peanut butter & margarine till creamy. Gradually add sugars, beating until fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time, until well mixed. Set aside. In another bowl, stir together flower, baking powder and salt. Gradually stir flour mixture into peanut butter mixture until well blended. Bake at 350 Â° for 35 to 40 minutes. (Until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.)
Cool and frost with chocolate frosting. (I use the ready-made frosting found in the cake section of the store.)

I will always buy some cereal mix instead of sweets. Seems healthier to me. Since it is after the New Year, I think lots of people would want healthier snacks.

The problem with rolls is if they're not absolutely fresh, the're a disappointment. So I'd go with brownies, RK Treats, cookies and quick breads. Quick breads make great muffins too and people love their muffins!

I think they're called Date Squares? I've heard that not too many people know how to make good ones, but they're always asked for when I'm working at bake sales.

Puppy Chow
Great Snack Kids Will Love!
3/4 cup peanut butter
1 cup chocolate chips
1/4 cup butter
8 cups Crispix cereal
2 cups powdered sugar

Melt the peanut butter, chocolate chips, and butter together. Pour over the cereal in a large kettle or bowl and stir well. Pour the powdered sugar into a large brown paper bag and add the cereal. Fold the bag to seal and shake well to coat evenly.
