No I don't say yes but I do enjoy the mental holiday with these shows. My favourite is "what not to wear". If she gave me a credit card with $5K on it I'd rather buy a good closet system first so I can keep all my beloved clothes and have room for new stuff.

I watch it when my DD is home - she enjoys it. When I'm alone I get too annoyed at some of those brides and mothers of the brides! I'm amazed at their behavior, the amount of money some of them spend on gowns and how tacky some of them are! I can't get over the wedding gowns with the see through mesh corsets - they look more like something a stripper would wear.

Bits and pieces.. now and then.. not regularly. I am amazed too, at the amount some of those women spend on their dresses. I agree about some of them are tacky. Some are beautiful. And some are kind of ugly. Takes all kinds, I guess.

I've watched it some, never a whole show. It appears they put more importance of finding their "dream dress' that they will wear for a few hours on one day, than preparing for a marriage that should last a life time, but as statistics show.... probably will not.

Yes, I watch it! I love wedding dresses and I enjoy seeing the dresses. Oh, the drama! The amount of money that is spent on the dresses and the weddings is just mind-boggling to me. But, I consider this show to be pure entertainment. My DH does get up and leave the room when I turn it on. LOL

My daughter likes to watch. It is on when I am making dinner. Pure fantasy is what that show is. I am consistently SHOCKED at the attitude of the sales girls. If I were ultimately spending that much on a dress you better figure I am going to spend as much time as I want trying on all my options!! The first sign of being "hurried" and I would be out of there!!
As stated earlier there are many many more important things about a marriage/wedding than what dress you wear...but my question is what is the REAL price of an average off the rack wedding gown these days? I spent $200 on dress, veil and shoes 22 years ago. When I look at the pictures I have no regrets! I know that is what prom divas spend these days but still I have two girls who may one day marry so I am wondering how INSANE has it REALLY gotten? The show makes it sound like $1500 is a minimum; in my world that is more that a maximum for a dress you wear once!

My niece was filmed for that show. Not sure if it will be aired or not. She didn't end up getting a dress and was disappointed with Kleinfelds. She said the store was not nice (like she thought it would be).

Yes! All the time and really like it.I could slap some of the mothers and others the brides bring with them.None of their business if THEY like the dress.It's not about them!

I have watched it..but would not choose to watch it . I think it's crazy to spend all that money.I've been married long enough to know you will wish you had some of that money later.
When my daughters got married I made all the decorations, their flowers (silks were in then)Their veils, And their wedding cakes. (I used to sell cakes out of my home years ago)We didn't spend a lot of money but they had very nice weddings.

I made my own wedding dress when Denny and I got married. It was quite plain but I was very happy with it.

And guess what...our marriage has lasted. Maybe more of them would last longer if there wasn't so much pressure to have the best wedding dress, best house, best furniture...the list goes on. All that money spending (if your not rich) causes stress.

I watch it and enjoy seeing all the styles that are available now. It is incredible how much people pay for wedding dresses. I think with the recession, though, some have cut back. One show I LOVE is "My Fair Wedding". It is on the WE network. This wedding planner comes in just 3 weeks before the ceremony and gives girls a dream wedding. He usually changes just about everything, yet it turns out to be fabulous and in the 'theme' that the original wedding was trying to portray. They are so over the top and gorgeous. Only the uber rich and celebrities could afford to do what he does. He gets it for free from the vendors for the advertisement. It is so fun to watch the couples reactions when they see what he does for them.

Once in a while I catch it and watch. It's fun to see all the dresses (good and bad!) Some are gorgeous, some hideous, but to each their own!

When I bought my wedding dress there was one store that had "coture" dresses. I said don't even let me look in there as I'm sure I'll find something I like and will not pay $3-4K for!!

I have watched it from time to time.

The prices are sometimes unbelievable, but what I wonder about is why some of the brides-to-be bring the groom-to-be with them

I guess that is all different now, but when I, and everyone I knew, got married, the groom never saw the bride the day of the wedding, and most certainly would not have been involved in choosing the dress.

If I had a flat bed scanner, I would show you a pic of my wedding dress. It was bought at one of the large department stores in Washington, DC, and cost $50.00! My DM and I chose it, and she made the veil.

I enjoy it at times...some of the dresses are amazing. Things have certainly changed over the years.

That is neat to have made your own dress-pattico-I agree
on the dress prices--and some girls bring so many people
with them--more confusion! We offered our daughter money
for a downpayment on house or big wedding. They opted for
house. We had a wonderful wedding for them-reception had to be on a Fri. nite-not Sat.100 people limit-more personal then 2-300 and the whole thing was terrific!
Had to get it all together in 5 wks. They found a house to buy. Worked out great-less time, less stress.
My Fair Wedding is a good show too! When David talks to his brides, I think he really cares-he does do a great job!
In the years, I have made a few veils and many silk flower
items for the girls and guys. It's fun and cost a whole lot less.

Ditto on everything Jeane Gallo said! Back in my day-we were called Bridal consultants-not wedding planners-and I've been one since the late 60's. The show is definitely geared to show the 'upper crust' Bridal Salon..obviously not David's Bridal! But the thing is to watch these brides-to-be work their finaces or parents to get a designer gown they want! Blows me away..not to mention those who want 2 or more gowns! WHAT is up w/that? If I found the 'perfect dress'..you can bet your bippy, I'd wear that thing during the entire wedding & reception! My Fair Wedding is a great show-I have gotten many ideas from his ideas (pared down of course) for decor, etc. I also love the Wedding cake competitions..been there, done that for 40 some years too. I guess we all watch what is of interest to each one of us-for whatever reason. But..the one show I CANNOT stand? Bridezillas...all of that fighting & screaming..YUK!

I occasionally watch. I wish some of the moms and friends would hold off on their critique until the bride gives hers. I also don't understand why some brides bring their grooms, it spoils the surprise.

I love watching My Fair Wedding, I think David does an amazing job and he does it in such a way as not to offend his brides. I told my DH I want to renew our vows and have David plan the event lol.

I'll have to check those shows out. My daughter just got engaged on Christmas. She doesn't have a date set yet. I know she doesn't have any real ideas yet. I'll have to tell her about these shows.

I like it too, don't know why. My wedding dress cost $75 (on sale half price). I was so covered up, little lace stand-up collar and lace long sleeves. I looked at the other day and was surprised at how small it is.

It's a fun program, and some of the dresses are fabulous! I think the variety of brides is good too--police woman, woman in a wheelchair, etc.

I realize that times have changed and wedding dresses have a lot more style options than 30 years ago. Many of the really unique dresses are quite beautiful, but I still can't get used to the dresses that have a completely see through panel from under the bust to just above the bikini line. It makes them seem too Vegas like and IMHO not appropriate if there is any religious component to the wedding.
