I subscribed many years ago. I know it's no longer in print. I think Vogue magazine put out a collection book of some of WB old patterns. Saw the book on Amazon but I'm too cheap to pay for it. I have plenty of knitting projects. And I can't crochet. I know I saved my old WBs. Now where did I put them? Maybe I can sell them on Ebay. I once found a Womans day from 1983 in my attic. Obviously some great recipe or craft idea in there!

carolyn, I liked your word, "tidy-minded". It doesn't really apply to me as far as my reading, but I liked the word. Read more than one? Always. Always an upstairs book, at least one downstairs book. At least two in the car, one in my purse, one paperback mystery shoved under the seat of DH's SUV (just in case... shhhh... he doesn't know it's there.) and quite often, an audio tape in my car as well... the current audio tape is a Hamish McBeth mystery, Death of a Perfect Wife. And I usually have one textbook-type non-fiction book that I read in bits and pieces, too. Right now, that book is William J. Bennett's AMERICA: The Last Best Hope, volume 1. I cannot seem to hold myself to just one book. We are going on vacation in a month or two and with the new weight restrictions on luggage, I am seriously considering paring down the clothes so I can take the same number of books. PAM

Yes to all of the above. Lists, notebooks, goodreads. I used to use bibliofil but no longer do. I have a big notebook of books that I've read started in 1990. 1990 now sounds like ancient history, but at the time I remember thinking how I wished I had started writing these titles down years earlier - like when I was 8, which would have been 1975. I have two notebooks of books I want to read "someday" and a 5 x 7 index file full of cards filed by author with all of their titles listed in order. In my little list-loving brain, crossing things off of lists is so very satisfying. Maternal amnesia??? You are too kind... I call those kind of days "Ebay days" as in: buy one kid, get one free. And the kids say, "No problem. Just let us call Nana first so she knows we are up for sale." We all get a chuckle and we all calm down. The short answer is: I do have a very good memory, lots of lists, lots of lists and then finally, lots of lists. PAM

Pam, I agree with you. And if like me there are a few remaining folk who don't even own a cell/mobile phone what happens then? Also there is the question of once someone has phoned to receive the code (which I presume is from a pre recorded message) it is necessary to remember the number . . . I'm sure my mind would become a total blank. An eg of this, though not AED related. A friend was visiting a distant niece who was 'suffering' from a number of health/mental problems. Early one morning she was woken by the woman's two young sons. "We can't get Mummy to wake up and she pushed a pillow onto our faces during the night" Friend rushed to the woman to find her unconscious with an empty container of pills by the bed. She told us later she had obviously tried to phone an ambulance and police, but that she couldn't get the phone to work and had to run round to a neighbour. Later she said the phone appeared to be once again working. It seems that in her initial panic my friend pressed the wrong button on the phone . . . and this is by a usually very capable woman who has held down senior posts in education and the local community . Unfortunately, although their mother recovered the boys were taken into 'care' as their father had already committed suicide and despite now being adults I don't think their lives have ever again been 'normal'.
