I don't feel good...

The last couple days I've been really exhausted. I'm getting these annoying headaches, have been crampy and nauseaus. I have never had Braxton Hicks contractions so maybe that's what I'm feeling and just don't realize it.

As ready as I am physically to be done with this pregnancy, I hope she doesn't come any sooner than planned (22nd). I'm not ready! I'm just really tired.....

There's absolutely no point to this post, I'm just thinking and whining out loud! ;-)

Never been-there-done-that (i.e., had kids), but the reward will be worth it. A faint memory in a few weeks. "This too shall pass"...

A cup of chamomile and/or ginger tea? Is that okay for pregnancies? Or maybe some hot mulled cider?

Have been there, done that and can feel your discomfort.

I've been though preterm labor and Braxton Hicks and I'm a support person for women with high-risk pregnancies and preterm labor.

Both BH and preterm labor respond well to drinking lots of water, keeping the bladder empty and laying on your left side. Dehydration can cause the brain to produce pitocin which can start contractions.

Just remember, water is your friend. And hang in there, you will be holding that beautiful little girl before you know it.

Very ambitious for not feeling well. : ( I've been doing 'packets' prepped early morning and all ready to put on the grill later. (i caved and set the ac on 82 but still hot trying to get some yard work done) I've been avoiding the grocery and using what i have on hand as well. I bet the cast iron water bath would work fine. I'm always putting mine on the grill for this and that...keeping bbq sauce warm... Last weekend i used a vintage enameled pie tin, two big bits of foil pressed in, then parchment, then a dry rubbed hunk of pork tip scored with x's, wrapped it all up and grilled to braze in its own juices, then slid it out onto the tin with its juices for final browning. (the enameled tin was black, oops, but a soaking overnight with baking soda and a blurb of bleach and it was cleaner than i have seen it in years) I have to do similar 'packets' for veggies...a layer of thin sliced potato, sweet potato, onion, herbs and any garden veggies on top like baby carrots, even greens like collards sliced thin. -i have to get crafty at the mountain cabin. We eat so much fresh fruit during the day that i like a warm dessert in the evening no mater the hot temps. I might try the cast iron water bath since i should have an abundance of fruit this year. I have had success with a rustic crostini on the grill. Always a bit smokey, lol. I do have some heavy thick coffee mugs in the barn from a yardsale, thick like diner mugs. A chunk of dark chocolate, then berries, maybe a quick crumble top? yum.

Well, Americana (registered yesterday BTW), if OP should 'believe' what her husband says, shouldn't she also believe that he wants a separation? 'Figure out a sliver of time during the day that's feasible todo "it." Set a kitchen timer for 15 mintutes beforehand. Brush your teeth; give yourself a spongebath or a shower. Then, go up to your husband and say, "How about it, Tex?" Try to do this at least every three days--every two days if possible. Sex is very important to men. If you want to keep him, you gotta pony up. Figure out a way that works for you.' & maybe she could meet him at the door wrapped in Saran Wrap? What *is* your reading material? The Total Woman? OP, I don't know what else is going on in your husband's life, but it sure sounds like there's something, maybe another woman. If so, you might try to use sex to 'bait the trap' & 'catch' him, but I don't know that that's going to work for either of you as a long-term solution. Firstly, if he's thinking of separating from his wife, chances are that there's already a bond with the other woman, & you'll just set yourself up for heartbreak by dishing up sex to try to re-capture whatever you once had. Secondly, using sex as bait reduces both of you to one-dimensional figures, you to a manipulator who uses sex to keep a man, him to a sort of stray man who keeps coming round because the lady of the house puts out a dish of food & lets him have sex with her. You know each other, you've lived with each other, you've been as intimate as people can be; can you clear the decks & talk together? I wish you the best.

I've a 22 year-old log cabin. The original front porch was small and poorly made, so it rotted before it's time. I removed the porch and and found the wood a bit rotted behind the old ledger joist. I don't feel good about covering up compromised wood. My questions are... 3. Should I replace the horizontal length of wood (I think it's called a sill joist) with PTL? The original was untreated wood. It would seem a good idea. However, PTL is somewhat wider than untreated wood, so it doesn't fit. I'm leaning towards using untreated wood, and sealing it myself before I put it in. 2. Should I replace the entire outer sill joist while I'm at it? Sections of it are warped. I pulled away one of them and the inner joist is still OK - and I want to keep it that way. I plan on using a circular saw down the length of the sill about midway between top and bottom, then pry the outer joist through the cut. 3. There are small spikes that go through the bottom logs of my house, through the flooring, and wind up between the inner and outer sill joists. If I pull the outer joist out, what is the best way to fit the new wood over the spikes? I'm thinking of marking the new wood and dremeling channels on the back side of it. Alternately, I could dremel off the spikes. Can I do that safely? Thanks! Marco

Well, I am very late (don't know how I missed this earlier in the week) but I want to say that if you are not considerably better now, then you need to go back to the doctor. I can't tell you how many times I have cared for people at death's door who were told they didn't have pneumonia, except they did. And your story (sick with virus, better, then much worse) is so typical of the onset. Lavender Lass, Chicken and Dumplings made by my grandma was my favorite birthday treat! but I never make it now, for some reason. Anyway, right now my favorite soup is a chicken vegetable based concoction that I came up with a few years ago. Essentially, I started out to make basic chicken vegetable from a roast carcass -- after making the stock, added mushrooms, greens, corn, broccoli etc. I had some pumpkin (from my supply of frozen that I put up every fall) so I threw that in. Then I added some diced cooked bacon. Decided that I wanted more protein but didn't have more chicken so I tossed in a codfish filet. Lastly, on a whim, I added jerk seasoning. Sound bizarre, doesn't it? But it is so good! I think that it is the pumpkin and jerk seasoning that takes it to the next level. I made it after Thanksgiving with the turkey remains. My other favorite soups are my "walk down the vegetable aisle and get one of everything" vegetable soup -- don't skip the tomatillos! -- Cincinnati-style Chili, and a multi-bean soup that DD's kindergarten teacher helped them make in class: Thanksgiving Soup 2 cups mixed beans, washed, soaked overnight and drained 2 quarts water 1 ham bone bring to boil & simmer 2-3 hours Add: 1 large onion, chopped, 1 large can tomatoes chopped, 1 teaspoon chili powder, juice of 1 lemon, and salt/pepper to taste Simmer about 20 min. Oh my heart aches for you Steph, but it is coming to an end now. Hang in there...did you ask the Dr. about the nausea? I had 6 children but never experienced nausea in the late term stage of pregnancy.

Good Morning, thanks for our replies!

I'm feeling better this morning except that Grant got up at 5:30 and wouldn't go back to sleep so I'm tired, but other than that, I'm okay. The cramping subsided and I dont seem to be nauseaus anymore. Its funny though, I woke up several times in the night, like I always do, and kept thinking I was going to go into labor. It's all I could think about. But I hope I dont, and I dont think I will.

I think my body is just tired and Camryn is running out of room so whenever she moves, she's pushing on some internal organ that is uncomfortable.

Hang in there Steph...her time is coming soon. I know how the last few weeks seemed like an eternity though. I too used to wake up and just wait for any kind of pain to indicate labor. It made me nuts...I think that's normal! The anticipation is nerve rattling. It's your time to rest now....easier said than done with Grant I know! Thank goodness your mom is close by too. Hope you feel fine now until she gets here......I'm thinking of you!

glad you feel better this morning. does grant still take naps? that is YOUR naptime too, right? lol All you need for Camryn is her crib, linens and a few clothes. I'm sure you hve that covered. If you can't get her room "perfect" before she comes, you will get it done after she comes. Most important is your health. So RELAX and veg out!

Glad it wasn't and Jodi gave excellant advice. I hate drinking water....but in your case she is right, its your best friend!
Only a couple more weeks now!!

I'm happy that you feel better this A.M. You can deal with being tired much better than being nauseaus. Just go slowly through your day. This will all be over before you know it.

Yes, fortunately Grant does still nap...usually for 2 hours and I really need it these days. Yesterday he slept for 3 hours which was a treat. I have been napping when he does lately. It's nice.

I have everything ready for Camryn, my house just needs some things done, but like anything else, it can always wait. I just wanted to have some things more organized, but it's not anything urgent or anything.

My Baby Girl was small, but very long and she loved to stretch out in the womb. Ouch! Poor Ribs and Bladder. I think I got a little sick when she was kicking organs around.

Ah Steph I'm sorry your are uncomfortable. I did have nausea late term with my 1st but it was exhaustion that brought it on. If I over did it I would throw up. I was a full time Paramedic until three weeks before my son was born, so I was REALLY over doing it, maybe you are pushing yourself too hard. Don't stress over being "not ready". I know you want everything to be perfect, but I can bet you are already closer to ready and perfect than most. You seem pretty together. Jodi's advice is so good. Relax. Hang in there, it wont be long now.

My first child came two weeks early. Good thing, I was very uncomfortable and tired of being pregnant. She weighed 6 lb 4 oz, a little light but otherwise okay. My second came exactly on time, I was miserable the last 2 weeks, lots of cranping, false labor pains, the works. Relax, it will be over soon. Soon you'll have Camryn in your arms.
