Panko as a topping for pasta dishes

lowspark

Last night we had baked chicken, and after dinner I chopped up the leftover chicken and threw together a creamy-cheesy chicken spaghetti casserole and stuck it in the back fridge - dinner for another night later in the week when I don't feel like cooking after work!

So... I thought it would be nice to give it a crunchy topping before I throw it in the oven, and I figured I'd use panko. Do I just sprinkle it on top, or do I have to mix it with something else first? Can I combine it with grated romano cheese and then sprinkle on top or will the romano take away from the panko's crispiness?
