Any 'Lonesome Dove' fans here?

I can't wait for Sunday night when "Comanche Moon" begins. I want the whole series on DVD someday.

Having lived in Texas for a few years I find it a very interesting series. Steve in Baltimore County.

I love Lonesome Dove because of the portrayal that the settling of the west was rarely (never) romantic or beautiful but harsh and cruel. I happen to be married to a cross between Gus and Woodrow which may or may not have something to do with it. LOL I had read McMurtry for many years. When I got married early 1986 I tried to introduce McMurtry to my avid-reader-hubby with Terms of Endearment. BIG mistake. Too girly. Too foolish for his taste. None of McMurtry other books held his interest and he became rather skeptical of my taste in books...in other words, if I liked the book he wouldn't like the book. Then I bought a paperback copy of Lonesome Dove. It was early 1986. (I remember the year. It was BK (Before Kids) and I had time to read in the bathtub.) I was in the tub, reading and I giggled at a passage. Hubby was interested so I read it to him. "Who wrote that?" he asked and immediately withdrew when he heard the name 'McMurtry'. For about a week I'd read a passage to him. It took awhile but I finally convinced him that THIS McMurtry book was worth his time. I've since bought three or four more copies as we have read and re-read the book many times. My family and my husband's family homesteaded in the west. Maybe this is why we identify with the Rangers and what dealing with the elements is like. No. We've never driven a herd of horses across the Rio Grande with a patron shooting at us but we've run horses in off the hill. We've never driven cattle across the country to Montana in all sorts of weather; our drives are much shorter but the weather can be just severe. We have owned a couple of HellB!tchs too. (not the past tense of that sentence...LOL) That's why we are drawn to McMurtry and his Lonesome Dove Saga. None of the books are as good as the first but the story is wonderful for us interested in the history of the old west. Lori

I am still undecided between BM White Dove and BM Cloud White. I love the BM Simply White with my new tiles but it is so white and I want my cabinets a little bit darker. I had planned on using BM Cloud White but it seems BM White Dove is a little darker so I may first try painting one door in this since the painted boards do not look like the painted chips. Anyone have pictures to post? Is there anyway to show a piece of white paper next to a BM White Dove or BM White Cloud door? I wanted to buy new cabinets but for now, I will paint mine after I do the floors and lighting and see if I like living with white so when I buy new cabinets in 2 years, I will know to go with white or a cherry stained door.

Ivory white is not Acadia white. Ivory white #925 is in the Classic colors fandeck and Acadia white #OC38 is in the Preview colors fandeck. They are very close in color. jbrodies' kitchen that was recently posted as finished has cabinets in Acadia White. Here's a pic of ours while being remodeled. We're not quite done yet, but you can get an idea of the Ivory White color. The wall next to the cabinet has been primed so it is white in color and you can see the Ivory white next to it has a bit of yellow creaminess to it. My hutch top is walnut so you can see it next to brown. Also, I have a lot of natural light in my kitchen, during the evening the cabs look even more creamy. I think either color would look great with Tropical Brown.

kats737 - we used the same color Tec Power Grout (professionally installed) in our shower and in our mosaic tile floor. We are having the same issue you mentioned above (being able to scrape the grout out of joint line with a fingernail when wet). In the shower, it's actually just dissolving when wet and we've decided it has to be replaced. But it would be a HUGE pain to remove it from the mosaic tile floor. The floor grout seems a little harder, but I can still scratch it out with a fingernail when it gets wet a month after install. Did yours actually harden over time? How long did it take? Thanks.

The first one was sooo good, with Robert Duvall, so I hope this one lives up to the first. I've seen the first one several times!

My Cousin was a Key Grip on the first Lonesome Dove. I'm curious to see if He did this movie too. I haven't seen Him in two years.

I'm going to record it if I remember.

I have all 4 of the Lonesome Dove series, is Comanche Moon another part of this series? I haven't heard this news!

I read the book back in the 1980s. I loved it. A book store had a stack of them for just $2 apiece. After I started reading it I liked it so much I went back and bought the whole stack to give to friends that I worked with. That has remained a favorite of mine for all the years. I saw the tv series a few years ago. I'm looking forward to seeing "Comanche Moon ".

Oh yes! Loved it all. I love Robert Duvall anyway, so this just made it better. When I read the book and got close to the end, I started reading slower b/c I didn't want it to be over! If y'all haven't read the book I highly recommend it. DSIL#2's grand daddy was a Texas Ranger and told some interesting stories!

Yep, gotta watch it. Really enjoyed the Lonesome Dove series so hoping this one will be as good.

did a google and the first review is pretty bad. I don't think Duvall is in this one; anyway it is CBS

Yes, I loved the Lonesome Dove book, too....and also slowed down reading it just to make it last.

I looked at some reviews, too and am hoping that it's just a good ol' movie. Duvall isn't in this one and neither are the original cast members of Lonesome Dove because this is another story of their younger lives.

Hope we're all not disappointed come Sunday night :-)

There'll never be a better Lonesome Dove movie as good as the first.
Never.
Ever.

But the story is very good and I'll watch.
I don't know who is cast in Comanche Moon.
I'd google but I'd rather be surprised.

The book, Lonesome Dove, is the best of the series too, in my opinion.
